I love the look of handmade - especially vintage, old world & country inspired handmade. When I saw Julie's very stylish Gift Box using Spellbinders™Square Bracket Edge Box and Layered Poinsettia die templates I set out to create a similar project but this time using pure wool felt. I was first inspired to use felt when Holly introduced us to this fabulous material when she made this beautiful felt Christmas Stocking.

Pure wool felt, embroidery floss, holiday embellishments, ribbon, adhesive spray

I started out by cutting/embossing a base layer for both my box and lid using cardstock and the Square Bracket Edge Box die template. I also cut the base for my box and the lid from red and green pure wool felt (available at fine sewing and quilting stores).
{Tip}
Die cutting with pure wool felt gives a very nice clean cut edge but regular felt can also be used.
After folding the scored cardstock edges I sprayed each shape with an acid-free adhesive spray and adhered my cut felt shapes to the cardstock.

Before assembling my box I hand stitched decorative borders using embroidery floss. I assembled my box using strong adhesive tape and secured the lid and base together with shimmery gold ribbon. All that remained was to add a few holiday embellishments like glittery bells and ruby red berry embellishments and my very handmade felt gift box ornament was ready to adorn the finest of Christmas trees!

This was such a fun project to put together and really looks good on my tree. Now I am ready to use my other die templates like Stars Five, 2011 Heirloom Ornament and Create a Flake Three to make a few more handmade felt tree ornaments! Love it when creativity inspires creativity!
Hugs
