I love finding inspiration for my craft projects from just about any creative outlet. Magazines and catalogs are one of my favorite go-to sources for inspiration and that is indeed, where I did find my ah-ha moment for today's project. I was perusing through my favorite home decor store catalog when I stumbled upon an image of beautiful stemware staged for a most elegant soiree. The etched glasses were particulary attractive and thats when I decided that a few of the simpler & mismatched glasses in my cupboard needed a quick and easy elegant makeover!

Glass stemware, adhesive vinyl sheets, glass etching cream
This is the inspiration image from the catalog that got me all excited about etching on glass. Once I discovered how easily my die templates cut through vinyl to form my etching mask I was halfway there. The etching cream is quick and easy to use too. This project can be completed within an hour and the results are fantastic!
1. Position the decorative inserts of the Spellbinders Edgeabilities® on a strip of vinyl and cut using the Grand Calibur machine
2. Trim the cut inserts using a pair of scissors so that they fit the circumference of the glass.
3. Remove adhesive backing from the vinyl cutouts and adhere them to the glass stemware.
4. Apply the glass etching cream, with a paint brush, to the areas of the die cut shapes that are to be etched. Follow the manufacturers handling instructions carefully.
5. Rinse the etching cream off with water and remove vinyl to reveal the beautiful etched design.
Bling-Bling
Because the results are almost instantaneous I wanted to see what else I could do to my glasses to take them from gorgeous to over the top divine - so I added bling of course! I attached a few self adhesive gemstones to my etched flowers and my oh my! Every holiday I am simply going to change out the bling to suite the occasion and mood - needless to say I am beyond excited about this discovery!!!
