Strawberry Favor Box   Thursday, February 02, 2012
by Kazan Clark   Post Type: Mixed Media

How exciting to be able to officially play with all these new die templates and share them all with you.  I hope all your favorite retailers were able to order your favorites die templates at CHA and once you do get them I hope you will share those projects with us on our Facebook page - because you know we love seeing your creations just as much as you enjoy visiting here!

Today's project is something a little different.  I made this Strawberry Favor Box using an oldie but goodie - Spellbinders™ Nested Heart die templates.  I paired it with the brand new & uber gorgeous Shapeabilities® Cut•Fold•Tuck die templates called Spectacular Spin, and one of my personal favorites; the newValor M-Bossabilities embossing folder.

Strawberry Box Template Tutorial

I made my favor boxes using the largest heart die template from the Classic Heart set.

1. Start off by folding a small flap on a piece of cardstock.

2. Flip the cardstock over and position the die template on the cardstock so that one side of the cutting edge of the die template slightly overlaps the folded edge of the flap.  Cut 3 heart shapes with the Grand Calibur machine.

Now here's the fun part..

3. I used my new M-Bossabilities Valor folder to emboss this beautiful design on each of my hearts (love how deep and detailed the impression is)

4. I used my Scor-pal to score a line down the middle of each heart shape - this will give my strawberry box a slight triangular shape.

5.  Scor-Pal's wonderful Scor-tape is perfect to keep the side's of a box firmly stuck together.  I adhered a strip to each flap and joined my heart shapes together.

Designer Tip

I trimmed off one side from one of my heart shapes which made for a better shaped box

6. Spellbinders new Cut•Fold•Tuck die templates are so fabulous and super easy to use too.  One die template allows you to cut out the shape and then fold back an area and tuck it under a section to form a beautiful intricate design.  Spellblogger, Julie Overby, will demonstrate this method in a video tutorial, on Saturday's Savvy Saturday post, so be sure to tune in then too.

7. After punching small holes through each section of the top of my box, I threaded my  ribbon through them and my Spectacular Spin shape die and tied a decorative bow.

8. To add a final finishing touch to my favor box I applied a dab of Smooch ink to each embossed Valor design to highlight them.

Voila!  A favor box perfect for valentine treats, birthday parties or a thoughtful gift to a friend to show them how much you care.  Thanks so much for joining me today - remember we have so much more inspiration to bring to you from this brand new release so be sure to check back here often!

Hugs

looks lovely but wish u coulkd make things u dont need a billion different spellbinders....

Hi Nina - just wanted to pop in and thank you for your comment. Luckily this box is so super easy to make and technically all you need is the Classic Hearts - the other two dies are just eye candy.  You can use any of your circular die templates or even a flower as a topper.  I hope I have inspired you to use some of your older dies and hopefully think about getting a few new ones too ;) Hugs Kazan

I wanted to first thank all the awesome ladies who came out to see me at the Great Lakes Novi Mega Meet this past weekend.... It was exciting to see so many old friends and new ones!!

It truly warms my heart to know how many Spellbinders fans are in Michigan and many of you are from the beginning days of my company. You remember when my Mom Mary and I were on the road together and the Spellbinders brand was the new kid on the block....
