The Gilded Girls Weekend Get Away!   Monday, November 12, 2012
by Stacey Caron   Post Type: From Stacey

What a treat this week has been for me… My sister, Cindy, my BFF, Kim, and my wonderful Marketing Director, Kirstie, hoped on a plane and  met up for a fabulous retreat week hosted by A Gilded Life! Spellbinders had the honor of being a sponsor for this event. What a Gilded opportunity this was! A very big thank you to Debbie and Shea, who are the amazingly talented mother-daughter duo behind the fabulous Gilded Life products. Never have I attended a more inspiring, beautiful and well executed retreat weekend!

Our Girls Weekend started on Wednesday, when we met up in sunny Pasadena, California! We stayed at the beautiful Langham Hotel & Spa. We spent the week actually crafting, making projects and honing our talents with world class teachers, who very patiently lead us into a deluge of gorgeous projects, that ranged from beautiful jewelry to amazing home décor pieces.  I can officially say our Marketing Director, Kirstie, (formerly a non-crafter in her words)... is officially a crafter after this weekend and we couldn’t be happier for her!! Kirstie… you make us so proud.

We met so many wonderful new friends throughout the retreat and it always amazes me that no matter what part of the craft journey one is on with respect to genre or style… all the differences melt away when a retreat like this takes place. It’s beautiful and wonderful to watch this occur first hand.  Always remember your creative journey has no boundaries and when you explore beyond…magic really does happen.

We met wonderful women from all over the U.S. and we must give a shout out to Teresa, Robin from Oklahoma and to Shawn Northern California….A very Big Thank You to Sue and Chris from Idaho for the extra tutoring you gave us in the soldering class! We learned so much from you!!! I will never forget our adventure to Roger’s Garden. Tasha, my sister will forever be indebted to you for the Advil. You were a life saver!!

The last day of the trip, we were totally amazed and overwhelmed by the enormity that is…THE ROSE BOWL FLEA MARKET! Oh my, I have never experienced the sheer mass of so many fleas all in one place!! It’s a definite bucket list moment. I did keep the damage to a minimum…thanks to my new friend, Maline, (also a fellow retreat buddy)… she is a master haggler and saved me some major bucks at the button booth. Thanks again girl... you sure did rescue me at the right time!  LOL!

To round out the perfect trip... we ran into our wonderful Ken Oliver at the airport.  He was demonstrating and teaching Spellbinders products at the Original Rubber Stamp Convention in Carson, California with our wonderful friends The Stamp Doctor. So all things said, a great time was had by all!!

Hugs,

It was awesome to spend time with you at Spellbound!  Having classes with you and Cindy was a hoot - and you did an Excellent job soldering, especially considering it was an 8am class!
