A New Journey   Friday, January 25, 2013
by Stacey Caron   Post Type: From Stacey

As we continue the journey into our new year together, I have some questions for you to ponder…

What motivates you to grow, explore and increase enjoyment in your life? After all we are just given one life here on earth so we should all be mindful to make it the best life possible!  Where do you get your creative inspiration? Does your life ever feel overwhelming? I want you all to realize two things this year when you feel blue….be kind to yourself and remember that the universe has an amazing way to make all things “right” even if you cannot see the outcome immediately!!  I have been so very blessed to have the life I’ve been given…however, it has come at a price.

“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.” Andy Rooney

One thing I have promised myself to do this year is set aside 10 minutes a day for “personal” creative exploration. Not related to my company. I challenge all of my wonderful followers to do the same…explore beyond your normal daily routine or hobby…open your mind to the creative spirit and a wonderful journey will unfold! Take time to look at the beauty of things around you. Enjoy your friends and family and weave those experiences into your life through your art!   Use your art as the vehicle of your expression. Spellbinders has a new blog for all to enjoy called Explore Beyond…it will be loaded with all sorts of inspiration for your enjoyment…I urge you to check it out as we continue to add and grow this new endeavor. There will be features allowing all of us to participate in this area together. How exciting to get the opportunity to grow and explore with all of you!

A few things I have done since the New Year is enjoy some masterpiece theater. Downton Abbey is my new obsession! LOL…my sister Cindy came back to Arizona with us after CHA and we decided to explore some great television series that we have missed since growing this company. So…we wandered into Barnes and Noble’s movie/television section and found that great British section of movies/television shows.

Needless to say, we have made several trips back to get the entire series!!! It’s been a fun two weeks with my sister! The other great thing I've done this New Year is go to girls night out on Wednesdays!! Connecting with girlfriends is a great way to de-stress, laugh and keep things in perspective!

So do yourself a big favor and call up a few friends and start your own Girl’s/Guy's Night out!! You will not regret it!!

Hugs,

What an awesome new bog, you´ve created here. I didn´t think, it was up yet, as last time I looked and somebody asked, it was told, it would be announced, when it went in the air, but now I´ve been surfing around there a bit now, and it´s absolutely awesome. So many gorgeous and new ideas to explore now. I´m sooo thrilled and just want to create loads of things now, and got several new ideas just by surfing around there, so guess I should probably take a day each week just to explore new things.
I absolutely love the saying by Andy Rooney, you wrote here, it is soooo true. I think, I´ll use that for something fun here too, the idea is already there, so will see, where it takes me.
You always makes us think much deeper Stacey, thanks sooo much for that. I always loves to read this post every friday.
Have a great week-end, maybe with even more shows on your TV. You should try the new Danish shows too, they´ve won so much recognition and been prtty famous out in the wide world too, and they´re certainly worth watching too. Maybe we´re a very tiny country, but we´re still know to be very creative too.
Have a wonderful day and lots of fun.

Like Maryann, I love your Friday shares Stacey, and I couldn't agree more with what you say! (well apart from the fact that I believe in reincarnation, so I do think we have more than one life here on earth, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't make the best of this one lol...) The explore beyond blog was such a brilliant idea, I have spent many happy moments there already! My creative outlet is usually my journal, but happy times with family and friends are soooo important!!! And as to Downton? Well being from the UK of course I adore it and have watched every single episode more than once. Just a little warning, if you haven't watched the Christmas episodes of series three yet, brace yourself for the ending!!!!

Stacey - I really enjoyed your post today...it's so important for everyone to take time each day to appreciate all you have been given and to simply relax with friends.  I think I need to listen a little more to your advise!
I love the new Explore Beyond blog, I think it's a great creative escape in itself, I've enjoyed being inspired by the pictures and the nudge to be inspired to try something new and look forward to what is still to come!
Thank you for all you do my friend!

Wow, I got hooked on Downtown Abbey also. I enjoy following your blog to see all the wonderful things produced (dies and cards). They give me lots of inspiration. Thank you.

I agree with you Stacey - everyone should take the time even if it is just 10 minutes for their own personnel time.  I do this every night before I go to be - to think of the creative side but also to take the time to Thank God for the day and the blessings I have.

I absolutely love it Downton Abbey and am enjoying season 3 on PBS.  God is so good to us, we need to appreciate all He has given us and glorify Him in all we do, especially developing the talents he's given us, be it crafting or whatever.  He does want us to have a balanced life, which does mean time to relax...time for ourselves...

Your new blog comes at a perfect time for me.  I have made some promises to myself in the last year that I needed to start treating 'me' better than I have in the last 52 years of my life.  Now that the kids are grown and don't need me the same way they used to when they were little, I am devoted to being the best me I can be everyday.  I took the very first giant step last July by having gastric bypass surgery which probably saved my life.  Since July I have lost just under 100 lbs and I can truly feel the butterfly starting to emerge from the cocoon.

I will look forward to checking in on the blog to provide me with that inspiration that I will need to keep me going with the journey I have embarked on.

While I'm fairly new to scrapbooking and cardmaking, I have found an outlet that lets me express my creativity and makes me feel good about something I've made.

You must be about the 100th person who has mentioned Downtown Abbey and is hooked.  I have heard nothing but good reviews so I need to make sure I check it out.  Thank you Stacey!

Lovely blog!  We all need to take time everyday to be thankful.  Thanks for the inspiration and your wonderful product that helps us all on our creative adventure.
  • Cheryl S Friday, January 25, 2013

Thanks for all the inspiration today and I hope everyone is able to find just a little time to create; call a friend; enjoy a good movie, book or music; etc. I just took a few moments to make myself a cup of tea before I go explore the new blog!

Thank you for the wise advice Stacey, balance is very important in life.  Keep up the good work.  Off to checkout the Explore Beyond blog.

Very wise words Stacey, I'm going to take note!  You cannot beat Downton - it is so serene, civilised and eloquent.  Highclere Castle (where they filmed it) is stunning...you should visit! :) x

You are so amazing, Stacey, and spot-on (I learned that phrase from Downtown Abbey, which I just bought too----isn't it fabulous?)!!!!   You have given us words and ideas to live by, for sure!  Can't wait  to check out the new blog!
  • Gail L. Friday, January 25, 2013

    Good for you!

I decided when my kids grew up, and didn't need me...not like when they were little, that I'd have me time!

I have a craft room in my new house, so to justify that I have to spend 1 hour in there Monday to Friday throughout the winter!

Of course it ends up being longer than that, but I love it.

I also have Wednesday night dinner with some gf's, then craft at another gf's after.

And last week another group of friends decided we needed to get together at least once a month, so the last Tuesday of the month we'll have dinner out, and a movie if there's one showing that night (small town)!

I really do think it's all about staying connected to the people you love.

It's one thing to know they're there, but truly another to actually hang out; & share the tears and laughter!

Everything is an adventure, and we need to make the best of everything!

    Life is too short!

I beleive that is a good thing, I get out a couple times a week, one is a craft night that ladies from our church get together and we all do different crafts so it is exciting to see what everyone is up to and to talk, talk, talk.  I am also apart of a Ladies bible study group and that is just uplifting to share our love of God together and for each other. I so Love the Downton Series, I watch it as it is shown and then I go out and buy the series to watch it again after it is all done playing on TV!!
