Dragon Pendant   Thursday, February 07, 2013
by Beate Johns   Post Type: Mixed Media

This week's topic is jewelery. Not my usually forte. But the new bezels and matching dies designed by Susan Lenart Kazmer for Spellbinders, do make it easy. I knew I wanted to create a pendant for Rebecca. We went to Hobby Lobby and purchased a few charms and went to work.

Spellbinders™ Paper Arts Supplies:

Others:
  • Sanding block, Dragon charm, necklace

We started by picking paper we wanted to use as the back drop for the dragon and would look good in the MB1-006 Shields One Bezel. The second largest MD1-006 Shields One die was adhered with re-positionable adhesive over Basic Grey Serenade paper.

The edges of the paper shield were first sanded and sponged with light brown ink.

The paper was adhered inside the shield bezel and the charm was centered inside.

I mixed Ice-Resin following instructions on the package (easy peasy...if Reba and I can do it, you can too) and filled the shield until it was level. We let it dry overnight before adding more resin to create a dome. Again we let it dry overnight.

A hanger was added before the pendant was placed on a necklace! I can't wait to make more! I will be hunting stores for cool things to add to those darling Bezels!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope this inspires you to create with your dies today! Have a wonderful day.

Hugs and smiles

It is soo beautiful Beate. I really love this little dragon, in this here, it looks sooo beautiful, and I´m sure, most people will like this one too. I admit, I have always said, that this was one craft, that I would never get to make, but now I begin to get second thoughts, if I´m right about that???? I love, what you´ve done here, soo simple and yet sooo gorgeous looking. You´re always sooo clever sweet lady.

I can't wear jewelry, so it isn't really my thing. I do like this pendant as it is so unique.

Wow, Beate!  This is so impressive.  My boys would have loved this when they were in their Medieval period.  Absolutely stunning, and a great tutorial, too.

I am not into making jewelry, but I was so impressed with the Media Mixage at CHA that I may be willing to start a new hobby (like I need one more) :0)
