There Is Always A First!!   Friday, February 08, 2013
by Stacey Caron   Post Type: From Stacey

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Tucson Gem and Mineral show this past week with my good friend Julianna.   This is where many different types of jewelry, findings and mixed media wholesales come together to show their wares.

I've been told there are more than 40 different type of shows going on simultaneously for the two week time frame and basically the entire city of Tucson Arizona is taken over. I have to say, I've never seen so much bling all in one place at one time. If you don't have a plan when you visit this amazing marketplace... you better get one fast! You can get in some big trouble at these shows if you don't have a plan because there is so much to be had your head will explode by the third tent!!!

Susan Lenant Kazmer was of course there with her amazing line of products along with her Ice Resin. She also proudly displayed her line with in the Spellbinders Media Mixage line that we launched together at CHA last month!

All and all it was a fun experience to see so much eye candy in one place and if you ever get the opportunity to experience the Tucson Gem show, I would highly recommend it because its open to both the trade and the general public!!

One word of advice... As you can see as Julianna and I left Tucson.... You gotta know when it's time to get "out" of Dodge!!!

In closing, since I had so much fun this week, I thought that maybe you could share a fun adventure you were on recently. Leave me a comment and in next week's post I will do a random drawing and give a way a copy of the current issue of Where Women Create magazine that I was featured in. Good Luck!!

Hugs,

Earlier this week I took my 19 year old daughter to the University of Creative Arts in Rochester, UK for an interview there. Seeing all the amazing artwork there was certainly inspirational and made me wish that I could go there too! Whilst she had her interview I amused myself by walking to what I thought was a nearby craft store

(but it took almost two hours to walk there)! It was worth the journey though as I was able to buy a couple more sets of Spellbinders dies and some co-ordinating stamps. We travelled home via London and had fun exploring there for a few hours too. I hope that my daughter is offered a place there this year, then I shall be able to visit her and relive our adventures all over again!

Oh yes this kind of events can soon get you in trouble ha ha ha ha.
I went to the big opening of a new craftstore here last week. It´s a webstore, that has opened a real store here , which is awesome, as we really don´t have more than 2 in the entire country here that carries anything, and this one is the only one, who sells Spellbinders  dies here in Denamrk, where I live, so I did get in big trouble, as I must admit, "I got to" but 8 new sets of dies there he he he. My only regret about this was, that they say they can´t get the gate for the fence of these D-lites, and I have searched for it everywhere overhere, can it really be true, that we can´t get that gorgeous gate??? I really hope not LOL.
But it was soo awesome to finally be able to actually see all the goodies for real.
You have a great week-end too.

what a great opportunity you had to see the gems and the artists.  I love seeing the work of creative people and realize that I have a long ways to go but the journey so far has been fun with spellbinders and the other products out there.  Might not make it to talented but have enjoyed the journey and hope to continue for a long time to come

I am in Miami right now waiting to board a ship tomorrow for an unexpected cruise -- a treat from my brother.  How wonderful to be in the warmth and out of the snow for a few days!

It looks like you had a great time.  My hubby and I just returned from a fantastic time with our middle son and daughter-in-law.  We spent the first week with them in South Carolina and then they took us on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas.  We had such an amazing time spending time with them and let me tell you...the cruise was beyond belief.  A fun time was had by all.

I was over from the UK in Los Angeles for Christmas with my family and they took me Whale Watching off the coast of  Long Beach. It was so amazing and moving seeing these huge creatures on their life's journey it made us all feel so humble and brought tears to my eyes.  It was such a special time shared with my son, his wife and my two grandsons aged 10 and 7 the younger one was born in LA. I feel very privileged to have been taken on such a wonderful trip.

My adventure occured in November, when I went to visit my son in Victoria!

The major cities in Alberta got a dump of snow, planes were cancelled; I had to spend 2 days at a hotel, dressed for warmer weather, not the blizzard that was happening!I eventually got there, and the airline was good about extending my trip the 2 days I missed with him!

He's in the Navy, so it's always an adventure!

Stacie, it seems like you are always on an adventure.  I wish I was physically able to do all that travel and see the things you see and do.  I would love to have went to that gem convention!  And lets see....as long as I am wishing....I want to go on a scrapbook cruise, ice skate, and anything else that I physically can't do.  LOL  So, in all your adventures, please do something for ME!  Thanks

Hubby and I went camping 3 weeks Dec2012-Jan2013, I drove the car with all the camping supplies and hubby rode his motorcycle. He lost his prescription glasses 2 hours into the journey-flew past me on the freeway-I had to swerve the car to avoid it hitting the windscreen. Next hubby lost the car keys-we thought he lost it in the lake, some nice guy found it and rescued it after 2 hours of me hyperventilating. On the way home poor hubby had to ride bike in 43C/108F degrees (I actually felt sorry for him) so the journey took us 11 hours stopping and starting to cool him down. My first camping adventure-he has done many. It was a huge learning curve for me with a lot of hair raising adventures but thoroughly enjoyable. The women at camp did the pee in the bush and pee in the sand at night cos the toilet was too far away, until we saw green toads-I think we were cured of our midnight toilet visits. After all of the above and a few years to forget it I would thoroughly go back camping again hee hee. I think I deserve a Room to Create it or at least a voyeuristic view into others rooms.

Nothing that I've done this week has been as much as your adventure.  Not sure I could actually take in a show like that...I would be seriously broke leaving there.  As in; hey lady can you spare some change so I can buy gas for my car to get me back home?  LOL  Glad you had a good time!

I went on an African safari this summer.    My daughter went with me.   It was the trip of a lifetime.    We took a hot air balloon ride. We went up at daybreak, saw the sun come up, saw so many animals, then had breakfast out in the fields.    It was awesome.    I'd like to go back in a couple years.
