Featured Designer: Debbie Olson   Sunday, April 27, 2014
by Guest Author   Post Type: Contest

featured designer debbie olson

Each month we host a designer from one of Spellbinders’ Design Teams. This is an opportunity to meet the diverse group who design projects for Spellbinders’ Idea Gallery, trade and consumer events, and advertising. Each featured designer post also includes an opportunity to win Spellbinders’ products!

This month’s featured designer is Debbie Olson. Debbie has been designing for Spellbinders since 2007. We asked Debbie to answer a few simple questions that would give us a peek into her life as a designer.

Here are her responses:

What’s your design/craft story? ie. How’d you get started?

Many years ago, I was a Commercial Art major and taught Graphic Design for several years. I discovered paper crafting when I was invited to a home stamping party in November of 2000. Newsflash--little pieces of ART that even a mom of a nine-month-old had time to create! I was instantly hooked and found that my design skills were really helpful in this hobby. The hobby grew until it became a “real job” around 2007. I am blessed to get to both teach and work/play with beautiful things almost every day.

What/who inspires you? Why?

Anything lovely inspires me—a gorgeous day, other artists and crafters, fabulous materials to work with—even a clean studio, though I don’t see one very often. . .

Define your design style in 1 word. Eclectic.

What’s your favorite project to create with Spellbinders’ product?

I am mostly a card maker. I have great intentions to scrapbook, but I don’t usually get much more involved than creating mini albums. I tease my son sometimes that when he graduates, we might have to have a slideshow of cards rather than events!

Head over to Debbie’s blog, Thinking Inking, for the card gorgeous Birthday Wishes card tutorial:

The Nestabilities® Family was designed to work together, so core shapes can be mixed and matched for maximum versatility, beauty and ease of use! Our 3D folders create a deep embossed and letter pressed look. The result is a detailed, textured surface.

Labels Thirty Four (S4-416) is one our newest additions to the Nestabilities® Family! There's 5 different sizes to mix and match in your card, scrapbook or mixed media designs.

To make up for it we will be choosing two winners for today's giveaway, instead of one. Thanks for sticking with us all week long!**
