How many years of crafting?
I’ve been a life-long crafter. I started out by helping my mom with Bible School crafts. After my daughters were born, I started scrapbooking and really got serious about the craft.

How long have you been blogging?
Two years.

Your favorite Spellbinders™ technique?
I love to airbrush an image with the Copic Airbrush System while leaving the die template in place. It creates a wonderful, white border. I also like to make my Clam Shell type cards by folding a piece of cardstock to leave a little bit on top for the fold.

Your favorite Spellbinders™ die?
S4-161 Labels One die template

Favorite food/beverage for crafting?
Chocolate and Diet Cola

One thing you get inspiration from and why?
My Inspiration File contains clippings from my favorite magazines. It provides a visual to refer to for instant inspiration such as colors, themes, etc.

Here are some of Michelle’s wonderful projects to share!

How many years of crafting?
I have always been crafty. But I became interested in (quickly progressing to infaturated with) paper crafting at a stamping workshop in November 2000.

How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for three years (in August).

Your favorite Spellbinders™ technique?
I like to use the dies as masks when I’m airbrushing with my Copic markers.

Your favorite Spellbinder™ die?
I mostly use the Standard Circles, followed by the small tag dies.

Favorite food/beverage for crafting?
Hmmm…I’m pretty boring! I generally craft with water by my side, and an occasional Diet Cherry Pepsi. I don’t keep food in my studio but I do keep sugarless gum!

One thing you get inspiration from and why?
I am inspired by every beautiful thing I see…whether it is out my window, in a magazine or in a blog.

We like to share some of Debbie’s beautiful work!

Let The Frenzy Begin!!

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

Welcome to the Spellbinders™ Pendants Blog Frenzy!

Starting today, we are celebrating the introduction of the Pendants die templates that will blow your mind with inspiration!

The first day of the Blog Frenzy is Becca Feeken who will be showing her creation with the S4-204 Fleur de Lis Pendant and the S4-213 Fleur de Lis Borderabilities®.

***Remember you need to send an email to enter! Link is in Becca’s Blog! Good luck!!***

How many years of crafting?
I’ve been crafting since I was a young girl. With a crafty mother who was the leader of my brownie troop - there was always something crafty going on at home.

How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for a little over a year. I celebrated my blog anniversary back in February.

Your favorite Spellbinder™ technique?
My favorite Spellbinder™ technique is framing. I love to cut our frame shapes and elevate them while recessing other elements to lower layers. It’s easy to do using Nestibilities®, their staggered sizes make them perfect for cutting two templates at once to make a frame.

Your favorite Spellbinders™ die?
Oh, it would be difficult to name just one…but S4-190 Labels Four is a shape I lean to all the time. Beyond that, I love all the frames.

Favorite food/beverage for crafting?
Coffee because if I’m crafting, it’s probably late at night!

One thing you get inspiration from and why?
I get inspiration from browsing through stores and looking through magazines. I’m usually looking for shapes, colors and a “feel.” When I can focus and just browse not buy, the quiet time is very restorative. I’m usually able to come away with a couple of ideas.

Here are some of Becca’s recent creations made with Spellbinders products! Just beautiful!

So what are you waiting for?!
Go to Becca’s Blog and see what we’ve been excited about!

Savvy Saturday ~ Putting On Layers!

Saturday, June 20th, 2009

When it was cold out, my mom used to tell us kids to put on layers.
Well, it’s warm out but I’m saying “put on layers - your Nesties™ layers!”

We will be cutting the Nestibilities® and layering them to make a wonderful design. Remember when you first purchased your Nestibilities®? They were nested in a package ready to be used. All you need to do is to position them in the same way on your magnetic spacer or white spacer (depending on which Wizard™ you have) and you’re good to go!

From bottom, the sandwich is your conventional cut receipe:
White Master Mat
Die (cut side UP - if you have a white spacer, I would tape down the die with removable tape on the non-cut side to hold in place
Paper
White Master Mat

After cutting, emboss by removing the spacer plate from the sandwich and add the Tan Embossing Mat by placing it on top of the die.

So your sandwich will be (from bottom):
White Master Mat
Die (cut side UP)
Paper
Tan Embossing Mat
White Master Mat

Although you may have seen this technique with our Flower Nestibilities® (such as the S4-191 Dahlia and the S4-192 Blossom), I decided to go a little geometric with mine by using the S4-202 Large Deckled Rectangles.

With the Core’dinations Color Core Cardstock , I cut/embossed the entire nested die template but only used the three (3) largest sizes and the center. Then I sanded the embossed areas. I only adhered the largest frame flat on to the card base and then foam taped the two other frames with Scrapbook Adhesives to give it a 3-D effect. The center I stamped the “HI” by using JustRite Stampers letters and Clearsnap Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink Chestnut Roan. Using My Mind’s Eye Penny Lane Collection, I made a card base and cut/embossed a flower from the S4-200 Flower Bouquet Miniabilities die template. To accent the flower, I stenciled with Clearsnaps Queue and added a Hero Arts Pearl in the middle. Adhere the finished flower with Scrapbook Adhesives 3D foam square in the middle of the frames and adhere the “HI” center on to the lower right hand corner…you are done!

To give you some more ideas, we did a post on this topic for a card and for a layout back in March.

So will you be putting your layers on?!
Have a great Saturday!

Embossing: Foiled Again!

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

When I read Beth’s Savvy Saturday post on embossing…well, you know I had to play with foil and not just any foil! I love the colors that Spellbinders™ offers in their Premium Craft Foil products. So time to play with the Wizard™ and emboss some foil!

Today, I am using F-003 Blue Premium Craft Foil and some metal words - I know some of you have these metal word embellishments around. You can use them over and over again when you emboss them. It’s a great way to accent your layouts, cards or mixed media projects. The best part, it saves you money!

Since this is graduation season, we had two in our household! I created a layout celebrating my youngest’s sixth grade ceremony. The words I had fit the occasion so I embossed them with the Blue Premium Craft Foil (blue is their school color) and then sanded them to show more detail. I cut/embossed fonts in foil because I love the look! Then I added the S7-013 Heirloom Scroll Borderabilities® Grand Die Template to accent the bottom and give weight to the layout. Using pattern paper from My Mind’s Eye 29th Market Collection and cardstock from Core’dinations ColorCore Line, I edged the papers with Clearsnap Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink Chestnut Roan. Everything seemed to come together to make a memorable layout for graduation!

Happy embossing and for those of you who are graduating this year…Happy Graduation and Congratulations!!

Savvy Saturday ~ Embossing Premuim Craft Foil

Saturday, June 13th, 2009

I made this card in anticipation of Fathers Day, which is, by the way June 21 - no panic, its not tomorrow!  My dad is a hands on, fix it even if its not broken kind of guy. I think he’ll appreciate this one.

I have a little collection of odds and ends which includes, but is not limited to punchinella ribbon, textured ribbon, window screen and wire mesh.  While all of these items will emboss into paper, I want to show you how wonderfully these emboss into Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil.

First I grabbed a few things, including my Wizard, S4-130 Classic Rectangle Small #s 2 & 3, and S4-162 Labels Two #s 2 & 3, Premium Craft Foil in blue, Core’dinations Color Core Cardstock, Clearsnap Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink and my treasures for embossing.  I also used a font cut from of chipboard.  You can use any font or sticker you might have.

I cut/embossed 4 rectangles of the black Core’dinations cardstock with the S4-130 Classic Rectangle Small #3 die template.  I sanded the embossed edges to show the gray core.  Then I cut 4 the S4-130 Classic Rectangle Small #2 from Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil.  I cut 2 with the silver side up, and 2 with the blue side up.  I embossed each foil square with a different treasure, I mean texture.

I placed a sheet of scratch paper on my Master Mat, to act as a clean flat surface (so existing cut lines didn’t emboss into the foil), placed the texture next, then the die template with cut side up, and then the foil die cut right back into the die template, with the “front” side facing the texture.  Cover with the Tan Embossing Pad and pass through the Wizard.  Sand the blue foil for more contrast.

For the center piece, I cut/embossed the S4-162 Labels Two #3 with the same Core’dinations cardstock.  I cut the smaller label with Spellbinders Premium Craft Foil.  To emboss the word “Dad” into the die cut, I arranged my letters in reverse on the mat as shown below.  I carefully aligned the metal die cut back into the die template and passed the sandwich through my Wizard.

I assembled the rectangles and labels onto a white cardstock card and ran a Charcoal colored Clearsnap Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink Pad along the edges.

Just remember, if you borrow some of dad’s treasures, put them back!
