A Three-Dimensional Effect Unplugged

I hope you all are enjoying these wonderful layered looks…Eli’s Easter basket was just too cute! Got those eggs (S4-264 Nested Eggs) on my wish list too!

After cutting out all those layers from Saturday’s post, I couldn’t throw the rest away (aka the negative cuts). So when Sherry talked about how cool it would be to use them in a different project. I thought why not?! She also posted a great example on her blog, Walkin’ On The BAD Side (her new Typepad Blog - Sherry fans, don’t forget to update your feed or bookmark!), and here’s my take below. Thanks, Sherry, for the inspiration!!

With the newly released S4-247 Labels Twelve #1, #2, #3 & #4 (#1 being the smallest size)’s negative cuts used with Crafty Secrets‘ image, I will put them together as one.

I cut S4-247 Labels Twelve #5 to frame the entire image on each of the three smaller negative cuts. Since there was no middle image (it was used in Saturday’s project), I had to re-cut/emboss the largest negative cut using the S4-247 Labels Twelve #4. Then to create a frame around it, I cut/embossed S4-247 Labels Twelve #6. Now we have a complete set to finish making the image whole. I started layering each negative cut starting from the bottom up (the middle image was adhered last) using Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L 3D White Foam Squares.

Using S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circles LG #6, I cut/embossed with Core’dinations In The Pink cardstock to mat behind the layered image. To add more scallop to the card, I cut/embossed S5-011 Scalloped Edge Frame Large Frame with My Mind’s Eye Penny Lane Collection. Using 1/4″ wide blue organza ribbon, I threaded the ribbon through each opening to soften the edges and single knotted at the corner.

Using Hero Arts Gemstones, I adhered a rhinestone on each exposed scallop which is about 3 to 4 rhinestones on each four sides.

Adhere all the die cut pieces onto a card front made with My Mind’s Eye Penny Lane Collection and add embellishments such as trinket pins.

Here’s another look at the finished project.

Again, many thanks to Sherry for inspiring me to do a different kind of layering and to save on scraps! LOL!

Have a great day!

These Layered cards are just beautiful. And what a way to use some of the gorgeous paper that is available! Thanks for sharing this card in reverse of the others, but with so much going on. Sometimes I wonder how the designers know when enough is enough and too much is more? Beautiful!

I love both the pyramid and this reverse pyramid I think they are awesome. I am going to try this again and I would like to know what crafty secret paper was used for this?

    Hi, Karen!
Thanks for your kind words :)
I went on Crafty Secrets’ web site and they had a couple of free downloads so I chose one of those. I printed the image on white cardstock. Hope that helps!
