CHA Blog Frenzy - Day Fourteen!!

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Thank you to Design Team Member Jennifer Davis for her fabulous holiday projects! Adding S7-015 Holiday Lights Border Grand and S4-225 Holiday Cheer on my wish list! Remember to enter our Frenzy contest by sending an email by July 22nd (11:59PM EST). The email link is in Jennifer’s blog!

Can you believe this is the last reveal of our CHA Blog Frenzy?! I want to thank all of you for commenting and entering our Frenzy contest! Also, a big thank you to all our talented designers who participated in the Frenzy to give us some wonderful inspiration!

For Day Fourteen, we have Keri Lee Sereika create with a harvest theme by using our next reveal, S4-227 Pumpkins Nestabilities®.

Keri Lee has always been a crafty person. Even in her childhood, she was always making this or remaking that. For inspiration, Keri Lee finds it in everyday life by paying attention to details - there is something to be learned from each day. As for a workspace, she has a 16 x 10 studio that is attached to her kids’ play room so that she can keep an eye on them and work at the same time. Although she can’t choose a favorite Spellbinder™ die template (who can blame her!), Keri Lee’s favorite technique is to leave her die on the cut cardstock or paper and use it as a mask/stencil with her Copic Air Brushing System. Keri Lee is married to a U.S.A.F. Pilot and has four children…the youngest (daughter, Lily Kate) was just born in June. Congratulations to the Sereika Family!!

Here’s a sampling of Keri Lee’s creation to share!

CHA Blog Frenzy - Day Thirteen!!

Monday, July 20th, 2009

We thank Becca Feeken for all her inspiring projects using the S5-018 Poinsettia Frame! WOW! Remember to enter our Frenzy contest by sending an email by July 21st (11:59PM EST). The email link is in Becca’s blog!

For Day Thirteen, we have Design Team Member Jennifer Davis giving us her take on our newest reveal, S7-015 Holiday Lights Border Grand and S4-225 Holiday Cheer®.

Your favorite color combination to work with?
I love creating with the color RED. I have to work hard not to use it on every project I do. I gravitate towards bright bold colors in general.

Your first paper craft piece you made with Spellbinders™?
I purchased my first Wizard™ in early 2004 and immediately started to use it to make many layouts of my son. I recently posted about this on my blog. Please check this post to see my first page made with Spellbinders™!

Do you shop for supplies mostly online or locally?
A little bit of both. The nearest scrapbook and craft stores are at least 40 minutes away, so I don’t shop as much as I’d like. I find it diffcult to shop online unless I know exactly what I need. I’m a tactile person. I like to feel and touch paper before buying. Lack of nearby shopping (and budget) is partly what makes me a hybrid scrapper. If I don’t have something, I create an alternative and print it rather than driving all that way to the store to get it.

Your favorite Spellbinders™ storage tip?
I’m not sure if I could cope without magnet sheets. I punch holes in them and have them in 3-ring binders. I’ve seen people put them into page protectors, hang them on walls or just keep the sheets loose. Magnets Rock!

Are you a messy crafter or an organized crafter?
I have to start a project with my area clean but by the time I’m done, it’s a disaster. If I’m working on a large project, sometimes I have to stop in the middle and clean up. But usually only if I lose an important tool amidst the chaos!

Here are some of Jennifer’s creations!

CHA Blog Frenzy - Day Twelve!!

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

If you haven’t take a peek at Design Team Member Lesa Rapp’s blog, go NOW and see her wonderful creation that she made with the S4-230 Labels Six! Remember to enter our Frenzy contest by sending in an email by July 20th (11:59 PM EST). The email link is in Lesa’s blog!

On Day Twelve, Becca Feeken will introduce our next reveal, S5-018 Poinsettia Frame, as we continue with a holiday theme. Wait until you see what Becca has in store for us as inspiration!

Becca has been crafting all her life. It started with her mother being the leader of Becca’s brownie troop so crafting was the entertainment in their household. Then she taught Becca to knit and crochet. By the age of 13, Becca began to sew her own clothes. Guess you can say she was never bored as a child! Fast forward to today, she still loves her childhood crafts but added quilting, cross stitch, beading, machine embroidery, machine knitting and stamping. As for sources of inspiration, she has always been drawn to color and texture. Over the years it led her to collect yarn, fabric, thread, paper, ribbons and coloring tools. “When you hold these things in your hands, it’s easy to dream of the possibilities…”

Some of Becca’s creations to share!

CHA Blog Frenzy - Day Ten!!

Friday, July 17th, 2009

Sherry Cheever did a wonderful job about snow that some of us are getting chills! Thank you, Sherry, on all those inspirational projects made with S4-222 Create-A-Flake One and S4-224 Snowflake Border Petite! Remember to enter our Blog Frenzy contest by sending in an email by July 18th (11:59 PM EST) - the link is on Sherry’s blog!

On Day Ten, we have Design Team Member Debbie Seyer revealing our newest one, S4-233 Labels Nine die template.

Do you have a scrap room or a scrap area?
I have this nice little corner of my basement. My husband, Keith, fixed it up with cabinets and a small counter (where my Wizard™ sits) plus room for extra tables and my computer.

Are you a messy crafter or an organized crafter?
I am an extremely messy crafter. I usually have my kids help me clean up all the bits of cardstock, glitter, etc. every couple of weeks. My supplies are pretty well organized. At least, I know where they are!

Favorite color combinations to work with?
I love the Pink/Brown color combo and variations of it! I use it a lot and just love those colors together.

Are you an altered arts, scrapbook or card kinda gal?
I am definitely a card kinda gal. I love to make cards and find it’s the easiest part of my design team projects to fulfill!

Who is your favorite promotional partner?
I actually have two favorites. My Mind’s Eye is one. I just love the beautiful patterned papers. It’s all so colorful and easy to work with. I like Core’dinations cardstock. It is such a unique product to work with. I love all the different looks you can get with it when sanding, embossing or distressing.

Just some of Debbie’s most recent creations!

CHA Blog Frenzy - Day Nine!!

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

Talk about Christmas in July! Julie Overby reminded us of the holiday season with her use of the S7-016 Poinsettia Border Grand…great projects, Julie! Don’t forget to enter our Frenzy contest by sending in an email by July 17th (11:59PM EST)…the email link is in Julie’s blog.

To continue with the holiday theme, Sherry Cheever will be showing us the next reveal for Day Nine which is S4-222 Create-A-Flake One® and S4-224 Snowflake Border Petite.

Sherry has been doing some sort of crafting since she was a little girl. Craft items were always available to her as a child from crayons to paints by numbers. From a kind neighbor, she learned how to knit. Her aunt taught Sherry how to embroider and cross-stitch. She painted with oils and watercolors for many years. Even earned some spending money in college by selling watercolor paintings of race cars at the local speedway. Sherry was introduced to rubber stamping when her girls were young and eventually became her craft of choice. Sherry’s favorite Spellbinders die template (for now) are the S4-138 Petite Ovals, Large and S4-085 Snowflake Wonder (how timely!). She enjoys creating cards and dabbling in altered items. Sherry considers her style to be very eclectic.

Some of Sherry’s creations to share with you!

CHA Blog Frenzy - Day Two!!

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

We hope you enjoyed Debbie Olson’s project that she created with the S5-019 Labels Eight Nestabilties®. If you didn’t get enough of this set, Julie Overby made a cute project on her blog that she is sharing.

Remember in order to enter the Frenzy contest, you will need to send an email (link is in Debbie’s blog) by Friday, July 10th (11:59PM EST).

For Day Two of the CHA Blog Frenzy, we have Michelle Wooderson who will be showing us her creations with the S4-220 Nested Pine Trees. Be sure to visit Michelle’s blog HERE to see what she has in store!

As a life-long crafter, Michelle started out by helping her mom with Bible School crafts. After her daughters were born, she started scrapbooking and now is really into the craft! Michelle gets her inspiration from various sources such as all kinds of magazines, browsing through stores, visiting thrift stores and antique stores to surfing through many web sites and bookmarked blogs. When starting a new project, a simple object like a snippet of ribbon or something purchased from a garage sale can set off an inspiration. What she loves most about crafting is creating something special for someone or to fill her home with homemade items…it’s a good feeling!

We would like to share some of Michelle’s sweet projects!

A busy mom, she home-schools during the day and creates mostly after 10pm. How many years of crafting?
As long as I can remember, I have always been interest in art.  My dad was a very talented artist, and I would spend hours watching him draw.  I always had paper and pencil in hand and tried to draw the things he did.

Your favorite Spellbinders™ technique?
My favorite technique would have to be coloring with either PrismaColor Pencils or Copic Markers. Both are great for achieving a realistic look and perfect for shading.

Your favorite Spellbinders™ die?
As for my favorite die, that’s difficult because I really enjoy them all, but my favorite would be the Nestabilities®. They are perfect for card making and stamping.

One thing you get inspiration for and why?
Magazines: I collect all of them. Since I live in a small town, they help me stay up to date with what’s going on in the industry.

Here are some of Linda’s beautiful work!

During the rest of the day, either water or coke and sometimes a few pretzels in the evening.

One thing you get inspiration from and why?
I seem to find the most inspiration when I am listening to music and surprisingly it’s music that I might not otherwise listen too—LOL! I’m not really sure why, all I know is that it gets the creativity flowing.
