Spreading Holiday Cheer

Taking a cue from Eli’s Savvy Saturday idea of plastic and alcohol ink, we are going from thankful to cheerful. With the spirit of the holidays and now we are in December (can you believe it’s almost the end of the year?!), I will use plastic. Well, in this case acetate to create an ornament for my tree. Or should I say my soon-to-be assembled tree. Let me say I am not as organized like some people…COUGHbethCOUGH…heehee!!

I used Spellbinders™ S4-223 Create-A-Flake Two #5, #4 & #3 (die #1 being the smallest size), I2-1003 Impressabilities™ Snowflake and S5-017 Snowflake Frame #4.

This is what I came up with…

First, I cut a piece of The Paper Company Acetate Sheet a little bigger than the middle part of the S5-017 Snowflake Frame #4. Then I took out my newest “toy” - Copic’s Airbrush System and with the I2-1003 Impressabilities™ Snowflake as a stencil, I colored the acetate piece with Copic Sketch Marker V04 Lilac. This airbrush system is so much FUN! I changed to another Copic Sketch Marker V09 Violet and colored S4-223 Create-A-Flake Two #4 & #5 acetate pieces that I had cut out earlier.

To cut the acetate, it is the same sandwich as cutting with cardstock. For those who are unfamiliar with that Wizardâ„¢ sandwich…

Cut Sandwich (from the bottom):
White Master Mat
Magnetic Spacer Plate
Die Template (cut/ridge side UP)
Plastic
White Master Mat

Depending on the thickness of the plastic, you may need to cut more than once. I suggest you use a scrap piece to test.

Then I cut/embossed S5-017 Snowflake Frame #4 and S4-223 Create-A-Flake Two #5, two of each (for the back and front of the ornament) using Core’dination Jaybird and Nassau Blue cardstocks, respectively. I also sanded the embossed areas on all the pieces.  With Scrapbook Adhesive by 3L 12″x12″ Adhesive Sheet, I covered the backs of the S5-017 Snowflake Frame #4 pieces to sandwich the airbrushed acetate piece.

Then using the same adhesive sheet, I adhered the S4-223 Create-A-Flake Two #5 cardstock pieces in the middle of the frame (back and front).

This is where I start to layer the rest of the pieces of the snowflake (front and back)…

For the middle of the snowflake, I cut S4-223 Create-A-Flake Two #3 with white cardstock. But I wasn’t done just yet, you have to have some sparkle! So why not add Sparkle N Sprinkle’s StarFire glitter to them?!

Adding Hero Art’s Gemstones will make this ornament ready to display…here’s a second look!
