Borderabilities Petite, So Sweet!

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

With all this talk of the Borderability Grands, I thought I would give the Borderability Petites some lovin’. You know how pesky those little siblings can get when they are left out of the fun.  And speaking of fun, I’m so happy to be bringing you art from the new 2009 Design Team!

The Borderability Petite die templates are 5.5 inches long and vary in width, depending on the design.  Each border has one cut line along the long edge.  They are the perfect length for cards, but can be beautiful on any type of project.

The S4-163 Daisy Borderability Petite comes with 2 coordinating die templates with the daisy design. This design coordinates with the S7-003 Daisy Borderabilities Grand and the S4-043 Daisy Patch Edgeabilities die templates.

The S4-164 Rose Borderability Petite comes with 2 coordinating die templates that match the rose design of the S7-001 Rose Borderability Grand and the S4-044 Rose Blossom Edgeablities die templates.

The S4-174 Deckle Scalloped Edge Petite Borders come as a set of 2 5.5 inch borders, one with a scalloped edge and dotted embossing detail, and the other with the decked edge for the worn and torn look.

Lets not forget about the Piercabilities!  Those work in exactly the same way!  You can choose to pierce or not pierce.

2009 Design Team Member Heidi Blankenship’s Anniversary card is stunning.  Heidi loves JustRite Stampers, Copic Markers, and Flower Soft products as well as the following Spellbinder’s supplies: S4-164 Rose Borderabilities Petite, S4-044 Rose Blossom Edgeability, S4-194 Large Classic Inverted Scalloped Circles, S4-114 Standard Circles LG, S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circles Large, and of course, her trusty Wizard!

For her Butterfly Dreams card, Heidi used these Spellbinders’ products: S4-114 Standard Circles Large, S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circles Large, and S4-173 Piercabilities Fancy Scalloped Butterfly.

Terre Fry, Design Team Member, used the Deckle piece from the S4-174 Deckle Scalloped Edge Petite set on her Christmas card to add the festive detail.  The S4-085 Snowflake Wonder is still one of my personal favorites!

Design Team Member Karen Hunsaker used the S4-163 Daisy Borderability Petite die template set to wrap around the candle as well as to cut and emboss the bottom edge of the card and emboss her envelope flap.  JustRite Stampers made the gift tag look just right!

Design Team Member Jennifer Davis shows us how a Borderability Petite can accent a layout.  Could Maiah be any cuter?  Jennifer’s layout includes S4-124 Classic Scalloped Circles, Large, S4-116 Standard Circles Small, S4-114 Standard Circles Large, and S4-120 Doodles (discontinued).

Whew, that’s a lot of linky-loo’s!  I hope you have enjoyed your ride across the border, Borderabilities, that is!

Savvy Saturday~ You’re Framed!

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

Making frames is a fun and easy technique. Frames can be whimsical, elegant, funky, or whatever style fits your mood or project. With the versatility of Spellbinders’ Die Templates, the sky’s the limit!

Start with your favorite Nestabilities Die Templates, today my favorite is  S4-190 Labels Four. To cut a frame,  place the largest die template on the magnetic spacer plate. Then line up the smaller die template inside of the larger die template. Cut/Emboss in the Wizard and viola! You have a beautifully embossed frame to accent your art.

Consider using different shapes together. Look, you can emboss them too, for additional texture.
Try some Pop Up Glue Dots for even more dimension, or layer thin frames over thick frames, use different colors, different materials…is your head spinning yet? Mine is!  This example employs S5-005 Curved Rectangles and S4-112 Small Classic Ovals.

Blog Team Member Becca Feeken’s use of frames on these cards really adds to the interest, texture and elegance of project.   Becca used Classic Ovals and Classic Ovals Scalloped to make this frame.

On this card Becca used Classic Scalloped Circles and Classic Squares.

For this layout, I used S4-189 Labels Three and S4-194 Large Classic Inverted Scalloped Circles in the center, then added the center Classic Circle stamped with a Just Rite Stampers sentiment. (In case you were wondering, yes, those are my boys.  And yes, that’s how we get a picture taken, one decent shot amidst the rough and tumble! I’m so proud!)

Go ahead and frame yourself, you might like it!

Happy Saturday!

Beth

Savvy Saturday: The Circles of Love

Saturday, February 14th, 2009

Happy Valentines Day!  Cupid’s Arrow hit me smack dab in the heart with more of Spellbinder’s newest die templates, the Inverted Scalloped Circles!  This is another die template that had some people scratching their heads, wondering what Spellbinders was thinking with these funky shaped die templates.

First I want to give a quick introduction of all the Nestabilities Circles.  They all play nice together, just the rectangles from the other day.  We have the Pinking Circles, just like Grandma’s sewing scissors, the Petite and Classic Scalloped Circles, the Classic Circles and the Inverted Scalloped Circles.  For the sake of this picture, I used and linked all the large size sets.

Now lets focus on the Inverted Scallops and the Classic Scallops and what you can do with them.  Like I said, at first they look a little funky.  Sometimes you need a little funky shape in your projects, and Inverted Scalloped Circles are perfect for that.  Now lets see how to combine these sets to make elegant or masculine shapes too.

The following configurations, with the die templates and die cuts side by side, show you how to construct so many different images from these 2 sets.

The top circle looks like a string of pearls.  What if you lined up the bottom two and used them as gears?

Just by lining up the scallops and the inverted scallops you can create exactly the shape you need.

So lets put them together and see what happens, starting with these basic shapes:

Stack them and you get this!

Here’s a finished project, as you can see, there’s no end to the different ways you can stack and arrange the variety of Spellbinders’ Nestabilities Circles!

Can you feel the love?

Beth

Quick as a wink she said,

Oh my gosh!!!!!!!!!!!! I can’t believe I won! After I ran around the house for 30 minutes screaming hysterically….I calmed down enough to ask my oldest daughter to read the e-mail with me, to make sure I was reading it correctly(of course still all the while screaming). She gave me that look that only a 25 year old can give her crazy mother, and said yes Mom, you won! THANK YOU so much, I can not begin to tell you how excited I am, and this e-mail has just made what was a really bad week into a wonderful one. I know that these dies will just help me so much in my card making, and I can’t wait to use them.THANKS AGAIN! Linda

We are honored to have been screamed about! Congratulations and have fun with your new Spellbindersâ„¢ die templates!!

Thanks to all of you who continue to send us your entries and we wish you all luck for the next blog.
