Add the Perfect Finishing Touch With Mini Wax Seals

Hello there, Michelle Short here and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog using the Mini Wax Seals collection. As the name suggests, these wax seals are much smaller in size that the previous ones and are oh-so cute! I think they are the perfect finishing touch for cards, tags, boxes and more!

JUST A NOTE

My first card uses two of the new Mini Wax Seals. I thought they would look great on mini envelopes. They are a little on the large size for the envelopes I used, but I still think they look great! To make this card:

• Die cut the envelope from Love Note Bird Etched Dies twice, from white cardstock. Adhere pieces together using Bearly Art Glue.
• Create purple mini wax seal using Wax Seal Starter Kit:
  1. Light tea light candle and place wax warmer over the top.
  2. Place 3 wax beads inside the wax bead warmer spoon (1 Twilight Purple & 2 Pastel Lilac) from the Must-Have Wax Beads Mix Purple.

• Once wax has melted, stir to mix the colors together, and pour a little onto the silicone mat in a circle shape.

1. Place Puffy Heart 3D Mini Wax Seal on top and let it sit for a minute or two to cool.
2. Remove wax seal from wax.

• Repeat process for pink mini wax seal using Bow Mini 3D Wax Seal and Cotton Candy Wax Beads.

• Adhere wax seals onto envelopes using double-sided tape.
• Die cut flowers and leaves from Gorgeous You Floral Etched Dies from Passion Flower, Amethyst & Iris cardstock for the purple flowers, Peony and Beeswax cardstock for the pink flower, and Peridot & Rainforest cardstock for the leaves.
• Adhere flower pieces/layers together using Bearly Art Glue.

• Adhere leaves to an A2-sized white card base with Bearly Art Glue, followed by flowers with thin foam tape.
• Adhere envelopes on top with more thin foam tape.
• Stamp sentiment from Envelope of Wonder Sentiments onto white cardstock using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
• Die cut out using the coordinating dies. Cut the die another two times from white cardstock.
• Adhere the sentiment layers one on top of another and then onto the card.
• To finish, embellish with Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems.

TOP TIP: I always like to add more wax beads to my spoon that I think that I am going to need for the size of the seal. I find that I get a better pour that way. If you have excess wax that you are not going to need, pour it onto the silicone mat and let it dry. You can re-melt that at a later date.

FOR YOU

For my next project, I wanted to show how the Mini Wax Seals work perfectly for decorating boxes for gift giving. To make this box:

• Die cut the Ribbon Box Etched Dies twice from white cardstock.
• Using a Large Blending Brush, blend purple inks at the bottom of box layers, fading to white as you go upwards.
• Assemble and adhere the box together, securing with double-sided tape.

• Thread white ribbon around the box and tie in a bow at the front.
• Tie strands of Light Silver Metallic Thread around the bow.
• Die cut ‘for you’ tag from Gorgeous You Makeup Bag from white cardstock and the eyelet from purple cardstock.
• Adhere together and then tie around the bow using Light Silver Metallic Thread.

• Create mini wax seal using Butterfly Mini 3D Wax Seal and Twilight Purple wax beads.
• Cut Wax Seal Adhesive Circle smaller and place it on the back of the mini wax seal.
• Adhere wax seal to the center of the ribbon bow.

TOP TIP: Adhering the mini wax seal using an adhesive that can be removed from the ribbon (like tape, rather than using hot glue) will mean that the recipient can remove the wax seal easily and still open the box!

YOU ARE AMAZING

For my last project, I’m using the Mini Wax Seals as an embellishment again for the center of a bow, but this time in cardstock form! To make the card:

• Die-cut Gorgeous You Perfume Bottle from Passion Flower, Amethyst, and Iris
• Die cut the bottle stopper and bow from Matte Silver
• Die-cut flowers from Gorgeous You Florals from white cardstock.
• Die cut leaves from Mini Blooms and Sprigs from Rainforest Cardstock.

• Hot foil Flawless Sentiments Press Plate onto white cardstock using Opaque Black Foil.
• Die cut using the smallest layer of the perfume bottle.
• Adhere layers of perfume bottle together with Bearly Art Glue.
• Adhere perfume bottle onto an A2-sized white card base with thin foam tape.

• Adhere flowers and leaves to perfume bottle using Bearly Art Glue.
• Add Silver Mix Color Essentials Gems to the centers of the flowers.
• Create mini wax seal using Flower Mini 3D Wax Seal and Pastel Lilac wax beads.
• Adhere mini wax seal to the center of the bow using double-sided tape.

TOP TIP: If you do not feel that you can see the design on the wax seals enough, you can enhance them by adding pen over the 3D areas. You can use metallic pens or acrylic pens to do this.
