Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton

Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton

Hi there, this is Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of colorful springtime cards made with the new Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton.  The gorgeous floral dies, versatile background images, and customizable sentiments in this collection inspired me to create three bright and pretty cards for a variety of occasions.

Gladiolus Birthday Card

The Layered Gladiolus Die Set creates a beautiful focal point perfect for all kinds of cards.  Here, I chose shades of coral to contrast with an aqua background for this colorful birthday card for a friend. Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton, S4-1431, BP-287, SDS-203, S4-1429 Die cut Bellini, Coral, and Rainforest Cardstock using the Layered Gladiolus Die Set.  Shade each die-cut with Saltwater Taffy, Abandoned Coral, and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink, respectively, and then assemble with liquid glue.  Stamp a sentiment onto white cardstock using black ink and the Very Best Wishes Stamp & Die Set and cut it out with the coordinating die. Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton, S4-1431, BP-287, SDS-203, S4-1429 Apply Verdigris Metallic Ink to the Script Text BetterPress Plate and press it onto Seaside Cardstock.  Adhere the panel to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with a tape runner.  Die cut white cardstock using the scalloped oval die from the Scallop & Stitched Edge Ovals Die Set and add it to the card front with foam adhesive.  Adhere the gladiolus and sentiment to the oval with liquid glue and foam adhesive.  Embellish with Silver Mix Gems.

Poppy Hugs Card

I love mixing bright red poppies with black backgrounds on cards, so I pulled out the Layered Wildflowers Die Set next.  With a little shading and some sweet details, I created this bold hugs card for a friend. Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton, S4-1431, SDS-202, S4-1430 Die cut Poppy, Carrot, Rainforest, and Raven Cardstock using the Layered Wildflowers Die Set.  Blend Fire Brick and Candied Apple Distress Ink onto the center of the petals before assembling to create three colorful poppies.  Die cut the bow from the Scallop & Stitched Edge Ovals Die Set and assemble with liquid glue.  Stamp a sentiment onto white cardstock using black ink and the Sending Smiles Sentiments Stamp & Die Set and cut it out with the coordinating die. Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton, S4-1431, SDS-202, S4-1430 Trim a piece of black gingham patterned paper to 4.125” x 5.375”, mat it with Raven Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner.  Die-cut Raven and white cardstock using the largest two layers from the Scallop & Stitched Edge Ovals Die Set.  Lightly blend Peacock Feathers and Salvaged Patina Distress Ink up from the bottom of the smaller oval, adhere to the scalloped layer, and add to the front of the card with foam adhesive.  Pop the flowers and sentiment up on top with more foam adhesive.

Warm Wishes Butterfly Card

With so many layers in the Scallop & Stitched Edge Ovals Die Set, I thought it would be fun to make a layered window card next. Here I created an easy background with several shades of aqua to give my pretty coral butterfly and sentiment a place to shine. Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton, SDS-203, BPR-028, S4-1430, BP-288, S4-1431 Apply Cruise BetterPress Ink to the Splatters BetterPress Plates and press onto a piece of Seaside Cardstock randomly to cover much of the panel.  Die cut the center out of the panel using the second largest oval in the Scallop & Stitched Edge Ovals Die Set and repeat using the third largest oval on a piece of Waterfall Cardstock.  Layer the two window panels and add a piece of Teal Topaz Cardstock behind the window before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. Colorful Floral Cards with the Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton, SDS-203, BPR-028, S4-1430, BP-288, S4-1431 Die cut white, Beeswax, and Rainforest Cardstock using the daisy dies from the Layered Wildflowers Die Set, shading a bit with Distress Inks before assembling with liquid glue.  Press the butterfly onto white cardstock using the Butterfly Silhouettes Press Plate & Die Set and Strawberry, Azalea, and Tiger BetterPress Inks for a gradient look.  Stamp and cut the sentiment using the Very Best Wishes Stamp & Die Set.  After adhering the sentiment, flower, and butterfly to the card with foam adhesive, add Opal Mix Gems to embellish.
