Hello everyone! It’s
Carissa Wiley here with you today, sharing inspiration for Day 7 of the
Spellbinders Stitchmas Advent Calendar. Day 7 features a fun a whimsical “Fa La” die set. I love that these can be used with or without stitching to create different looks.

For both of my cards today, I chose a retro-inspired theme and color palette. I’ll be using Spellbinders ColorWheel cardstock in
Blush,
Dahlia,
Tutu,
Fern, and
Mint, and adding in some
gold for a little shine. This bright and colorful palette was inspired by the whimsical nature of these dies.
Card one was created using only products from days 1-7 of the Advent calendar. Along with the day 7 dies, I also included small dies from days 1 and 3 for small accents.

I began with die-cutting my letters from various colors of cardstock. I added some simple cross stitching using an off-white thread to each of my letters. I love that the dies impress lines that guide your stitching along the dies. Once my stitching was completed, I adhered the stitched letters onto the shadow layers to add some shine. I positioned the stitched letters onto my card front using foam adhesive and finished the card off with a small Noel banner and some sparkles I created with the tree topper die from day 3.

Card two uses the day 7 dies along with some of my favorite Spellbinders products to create a stepped-up card. For this card, I decided to forego the stitching on the letters and just use the stitching holes and impressions to add texture to my die cuts. I mounted the letters onto a shadow layer of the same color to create a tone-on-tone effect. I also die cut a large disco ball from gold cardstock, using the
Disco Ball etched dies from the Shine Bright collection. To give it a holiday spin, I also added an ornament topper, which I created using a small die from day 1 of the
Stitchmas Advent Calendar.
To add some megawatt shine to this card, I created a hot foil background using the
Sparkle Background hot foil plate and some
Champagne foil. I topped off my arrangement with some holly leaves and berries from the
Candy Canes and Holly etched die set and a hot foil sentiment I created with the
Mistletoe Greetings press plate and die set. These are a couple of my favorite holiday products from Spellbinders.
