Step by Step Tutorial: How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom

Hello! Jen Kotas here today with a step by step photo tutorial creating the Felt Berry Blossom. I’ll share die cutting the felt pieces, stitching and finishing them. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Cut a small piece of wool felt for each of the dies in the Felt Berry Blossom Etched dies. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 I found I got a better cut using the shim included in the Universal Plate System. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Keep all your die cuts in a Craft Stax Medium Tray so you don’t lose anything! How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Pick floss, then separate three strands to use at the same time. Separating the strands individually gives a fuller look and lays better. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Place inner piece between the front and back layers of the strawberry. Stitch every other hole the first time around. Go up one hole and down the next all the way around. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Once to the end, repeat going back the other way filling in the empty space between stitches from the first time. This gives a clean look to both front and back for a dimensional project. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Stitch the details for the front of the strawberry top the same as above, up one hole and down the next. Come back the other way to fill it in. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 To stitch strawberry top front and back to strawberry, line up front over front of strawberry and back over back of strawberry. To keep things lined up when you start stitching through the actual strawberry as well, hold topper in place with clips. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Stitch as before but you’ll need to check needle goes through in the right spot frequently when stitching through strawberry as well. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Cut two leaves and hold them together. Stitch up one hole and down the other for the spine. Come back the other way to fill in the gaps. While doing so stitch the veining on each side in the same manner. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Hold the flower and flower center together. Run floss up one hole and down the other then tie off in back and clip ends short. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 I left one leg of floss from flower long and used it to stitch the flower to the leaf. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 I used a length of the green floss to stitch the leaf to the strawberry topper, using the same holes as before. How To Create the Felt Berry Blossom, S6-256 Tie off and cut ends close to knot. Hot glue is also an option instead of stitching the pieces together.
