Hi there crafty friends! I’m
Rebecca Keppel and today I am sharing the simplest way to create a multicolor BetterPress card using the Spellbinders
Flourishing Betterpress Plates with a Registration Template.

If you’ve never used a Spellbinders Registration template, don’t worry! I’ll share all the steps you need to follow, but essentially, the Registration template is an acetate sheet marked with each of the plates from the set. You will run the plates through in various passes and each pass is designated by a separate color on the acetate. So the first step is to tape the acetate to the BetterPress Chase (which is the magnetic platform that will hold the press plate). Use
Best Ever Craft Tape to hold the acetate in place right over the A2 rectangle on the Chase. Then tape the corners of Cotton Cardstock to the Platen (which is the clear top plate with registration marks).

Next, choose which pass or color on the acetate you are going to start with. It doesn’t matter which plate you start with, because we are going to do each image one at a time and while some may overlap, the order doesn’t matter. I inked my first plate with
Cosmic Sky BetterPress Ink.

Flip the Platen over and place it down on the Chase. The corners will magnetize together. Then run this sandwich through the Spellbinders
Platinum 6.

Remove the Platen from the Chase and remove the first plate from the Chase. Keep the paper in place on the platen. Then, place the second plate you want to use down on the acetate on the Chase. Although the Acetate uses the same color for this plate, I decided to use a different blue here (
Azure BetterPress Ink).

Flip the Platen over again and run it through the die-cut machine.

Again k,eep the cardstock in place, remove the last plate and place the next plate down. I used
Tiger BetterPress Ink for this pass.

For my final pass (which creates the rings), I used
Tuscan BetterPress Ink. Now you have an artistic looking multicolor BetterPress image for a card! At this point you can remove the cardstock from the Platen and the Acetate from the Chase.

For a sentiment, I used the
Holding Your Heart Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set from the Collaged Birds Collection by Dona Wakley. The fabulous thing about this plate is that there are several sentiments included on one plate.

So, one pass through the die-cut machine actually creates several BetterPress sentiments.

There is also a one pass die which cuts out each of those sentiments in one pass…

and creates multiple sentiment strips.

I decided to use the Spellbinders
Guillotine trimmer to cut this panel down to 3.75”x5.0.”

I love the artistic look of this panel and thought it might be fun to add some splatter to it. I used the Spellbinders
Mixing Set and added some water to the Indigo color. Then I picked up the Indigo watercolor with a round brush and tapped the handle over the brush to add small Indigo splatters around my image.

For the background, I spritzed an A2 piece of
Sicily Cardstock with the Spellbinders
Mighty Mister.

I placed the dampened cardstock inside the
Lined Corners 3D Embossing Folder and ran it through the die-cut machine with the 3D Adapter Plate.

Using the
Mister and the Adapter plate creates a fabulous 3D impression without paper cracking.

I placed
White Foam Adhesive Micro Strips behind my multicolor BetterPress panel and small
Foam Squares behind the sentiment I chose and adhered the panel to the embossed background and the sentiment to the panel.

I finished off the card with a few
Denim Color Essential Gems to add a bit of shine.
I hope you can see how easy it is to add multiple colors to your BetterPress projects using the Spellbinders Registration System and how easy it is to create an artistic mixed media-looking card with the Dina Wakley Modern Botanicals Collection!
