Modern Abstract Cardmaking with the All My Senses Collection by Jaycee Gaspar

Modern Abstract Cardmaking with the All My Senses Collection by Jaycee Gaspar

Hello, crafty friends, Marie here again from Marie Nicole Designs. I have some cards to share with you today using the All My Senses collection by Jaycee Gaspar. This collection is truly beautiful and inspired me to create outside of my usual style. I had fun playing around with the more abstract feel of the collection. Creating Amazing Abstract Cards with the All My Senses Collection, BP-339, BP-341, S5-729, S5-730, STN-117 My first card for this blog post features this very chic lady, who is fun to piece together using the Fragmented Gaze die set. This set cuts out all the layers that you assemble. This gives you endless opportunities for color combinations. I kept with the color-block feel by choosing a light and dark shade of each color. I have navy blue for the hair and a light blue for the shirt. A lighter peach and a darker peach for the skin tone. Then, for the cheeks and earrings, I used red and then some gold cardstock. The gold adds a touch of shiny texture to the whole look.Creating Amazing Abstract Cards with the All My Senses Collection, BP-339, BP-341, S5-729, S5-730, STN-117 The background is also created in a color block style. I used some low-tack tape to mask off rectangle areas, and then ink-blended red ink. To add the vertical gold rectangle, I waited until the red block was dry, taped off the rectangle, and then painted on some gold watercolor paint. Such a simple background, but I like the way it adds a frame for this lady’s face. I then just added the sentiment to the top, using the All My Senses Sentiments Better Press plates and coordinating dies.Creating Amazing Abstract Cards with the All My Senses Collection, BP-339, BP-341, S5-729, S5-730, STN-117 This second card is an even more abstract face. I had fun figuring out how I wanted to present these lines! I added the circles in the background using again red ink that I blended on over the Ambient Aura layering stencils. I only used one layer! I thought the three large circles would be enough background against the black lines of the face, so the lines wouldn’t get lost. Now, to keep in with my color scheme and again, add some shine and texture, I again took my gold watercolor paint and added some gold outline to the background circles, and then some dots vertically and horizontally.Creating Amazing Abstract Cards with the All My Senses Collection, BP-339, BP-341, S5-729, S5-730, STN-117 I wanted to add a little interest to the face, so instead of gluing it down flat, I added dimension. The left eye is adhered to a square of white cardstock, and then popped up with foam adhesive. The rest of the face in adhered to the background around the left eye square. I kind of like the split dimension on this face! Then, the sentiment is added right over the nose of the left side of the face, and hangs over the edge. The hanging edge has a tiny piece of foam adhesive supporting it from behind. The sentiment is again from the All My Senses Better Press Plate. The face is the Line of Being die set. Creating Amazing Abstract Cards with the All My Senses Collection, BP-339, BP-341, S5-729, S5-730, STN-117 My third card has perhaps the most going on by combining several patterns. I used the Ambient Aura layering stencils again on the background. And again, added detail and shine with my gold watercolor. I stuck with the overall color theme of black, blue, gold and red. The squares popped up in front are created by using the Perceptual Profiles Better Press plate pressed into white cardstock with black ink. I kept this pattern black and white, cut it up into various square shapes, and popped it up on foam adhesive over the stenciled background.Creating Amazing Abstract Cards with the All My Senses Collection, BP-339, BP-341, S5-729, S5-730, STN-117 I added another sentiment from the All My Senses Sentiments plate, again, half adhered to the top square and half popped up with foam adhesive off the side. The mixing of patterns works because I’m mixing a large pattern in the background with the stencil, with the smaller pattern of the faces on the top square. I’m also keeping the color in the background so we aren’t visually overwhelmed with more color on the front squares. And of course, I had to add more gold watercolor by painting the edges of the front square. Who doesn’t love some gilded edges? Thanks for stopping by to take a look at the All My Senses Collection! This is such a great collection, and especially if you love the more abstract look. Until next time, Marie Nicole. How to Build a Dimensional Scene with House-Mouse Stamps

How to Build a Dimensional Scene with House-Mouse Stamps

Hello, crafty friends! It's Marie here again from Marie Nicole Designs. I have a tutorial for you today, featuring some of the most adorable House Mouse stamps! I want to show you how you can stamp an image, build a scene with it, and even add some fun dimension with some of the images! This little mouse juggling peanuts is the perfect image to try this on. Let’s get started! Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069

Stamp and Color

Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Stamp out your image using a black ink that will not smear with whatever medium you choose to use. I am using watercolor brushes, so I need an ink that will stay in place even when water is introduced on it. I am using a black hybrid ink, which is usually safe for most coloring mediums. I am using the image of the mouse with the peanuts, but I also have several more images I stamped and colored. Stick around to the end of the post to see the finished cards for the additional images!

Stamp and Color Additional Peanuts

Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Stamp out the single peanut image that is included with this stamp set. I colored a good number of these single peanut images with the same colors I used on the large image. This way, they will all coordinate. Again, use the ink that will not smear!

Fussy Cut

Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Cut out the peanut images you just stamped and colored. It is sometimes helpful to have a small plate or dish nearby to put your tiny pieces in, so they don't get lost on your workspace!

Add Color and Pattern

Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Trim down the panel with your large image on it to a little shorter than your card base. This will allow you to add some fun paper or background behind it! I added a panel of striped patterned paper to the bottom later, and then trimmed the bottom of the stamped layer with a green piece of colored cardstock. You could also use patterned or colored cardstock, OR go ahead and create your own background by stamping or ink blending! I do love using up scraps, so sometimes grabbing some pieces out of my scrap bin is a fast way to recycle paper AND finish a card.

Stamp a Sentiment and Adhere

Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069   Stamp the sentiment of your choice onto the top layer of your card. I again used the same black ink I used for my image. I want to stamp the sentiment first and then adhere the top layer to the base layer with foam. It’s easier to stamp before adhering! Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069

Add To The Scene

Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Add foam dots to the back of the peanut images you stamped, colored, and cut out. Then, add them to your scene to create more interest and some dimension! I added the peanuts on top of the peanut images that the mouse was tossing into the air. This gives even more of an impression that our mouse is really juggling. I also added a few more peanuts scattered around the floor to fill out the scene just a little bit. Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 There you have it! A simple way to let these cute images be the star focal point, but add a little extra dimension and interest. Don’t forget about your foam adhesive! It's so fun to add dimension. Now, I gave you a sneak peek at some of the other images I stamped and colored at the beginning of this blog post. Here are the finished cards. Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 Adding Dimension to Stamped Images - House Mouse, RSC-067, RSC-068, RSC-070, RSC-069 I kept the card designs mostly simple, with a little matting of colored cardstock, so that the cute images could be the focal point. Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you found this tutorial helpful and inspiring. How to Make a House-Mouse Party Parade Birthday Card Step-by-Step

How to Make a House-Mouse Party Parade Birthday Card Step-by-Step

Hello, crafty friends! I'm Melody Rupple, and today I'm excited to share a fun project using the House-Mouse Party Parade Stamps Set. I documented my creative process step-by-step, so you can follow along and recreate this card for your own celebrations! A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Let’s get started! A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Start by creating your card base. I used an A2 card base (4.25” x 5.5”) using Kraft Cardstock. Score and fold the cardstock in half to create your card base. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Cut a piece of white cardstock to 4” x 5.25. Select the main image from the House-Mouse Party Parade Stamps Set and stamp with Brown Pigment Ink. If you plan to use alcohol markers or watercolors, it is important to use a Pigment Ink so that the ink does not smear. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 To add color to the background, lightly blend ink around the stamped image. I used Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Choose your favorite method for coloring. I used Olo alcohol markers, but colored pencils or watercolor would work great too. For each color family, I chose two markers. I used O4.1 and O4.3 for the browns, R51 and R5.3 for the pinks, Y0.1 and Y0.4 for the yellows, BG1.0 and BG1.2 for the aquas, and YG2.1 and YG2.3 for the greens. I started by adding my shading in the darker color in the color family. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Continue blending with the lighter color in the color family until you are happy with the results. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Next, die cut the grass and clouds using the Landscape Edges Etched Dies. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Stamp the Birthday Greeting Sentiment on the grass and lightly blend Tumbled Glass Ink on the edges of the clouds. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Use glue or a tape runner to attach the strips of clouds and grass. Attach the card front to Kraft card base. A Mouse Parade! RSC-067, S4-1408 Your House-Mouse Party Parade card is ready to give to someone special. Thank you for crafting along with me. I hope these steps inspire you to create your own parade of adorable mice! You can follow me on Instagram. Happy stamping!
