Spring Fergus Collection Introduction with Sandi MacIver

Hi crafty friends! It’s Sandi MacIver here, and I’m thrilled to be back with the second release in the 3D Felt Décor Collection with Spellbinders. Fergus has been such a big hit (and I thank you all SO much), and now it’s time to dress him up for the new season and create fresh Spring Décor for your tiered trays, dough bowls, and cozy home displays. The Spring release is all about Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, and Easter - with a delightful Spring Embellishments Die Set filled with charming details to decorate your Fergus’ coat and hat. AND... Because I couldn’t stop there. I’ve also designed two sizes of 3D Felt Eggs, plus a blooming collection of spring florals to decorate both Fergus and your eggs. Get ready - you’re going to fall in love with stitching all over again!

Valentine’s Fergus

Spring Fergus Collection Introduction with Sandi MacIver, S3-576 Stitch up your Valentine’s Fergus in sweet shades of pink, red, and white. Embellish his hat and coat with three sizes of layering hearts – and don’t forget, you can mix in florals and leaves from the previous Fall and Winter collections for extra charm. Because more layers = more cuteness!

St. Patrick’s Day Fergus

Spring Fergus Collection Introduction with Sandi MacIver, S3-576 Meet Lucky Fergus the Leprechaun! Decorate him with shamrocks – including a lucky four-leaf clover – plus a hat buckle and the cutest little button die for his coat. I even added my buttons to the sleeves on my sample for extra personality.

Easter Fergus

Spring Fergus Collection Introduction with Sandi MacIver, S3-576 The spring Embellishments pack includes three sizes of decorative eggs, perfect for styling your Easter Fergus. But that’s not all – the 3D Eggs and Flowers Die Set also includes beautiful tulips, daffodils, and daisies you can use on Fergus or your stitched eggs.
Pro TIP: Use the stem die from the 3D Eggs and Flowers set to create adorable egg stripes – and don’t forget to embellish with the new Spellbinders Sequins and Buttons for extra sparkle and texture.

I had so much fun designing these! The pre-cut stitch holes make them quick, relaxing, and beginner-friendly – no sewing machine required. You’ll get:
  • Two Egg Sizes
  • Three Flower Styles
  • Three leaf shapes (that can even become a fourth flower style!).
Stuff them with batting – and add a pinch of crushed walnut shells if you’d like a little base weight – and you’ll have the most adorable seasonal felt décor for your tiered trays and home displays.

Ready to Create your Spring Fergus?

Whether you’re team Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Easter – or all three! – This Spring release is bursting with creative possibilities. I hope you have as much fun stitching Fergus as I did designing him. Happy Crafting, friends!

Creating Baking-Themed Cards with the Spellbinders Make It & Bake It Collection

Creating Baking-Themed Cards with the Spellbinders Make It & Bake It Collection

Creating cards can have a lot in common with baking- they’re both creative activities! You gather up your ingredients and combine them in specific ways to get the desired outcome. So today, we’re going to mix up some fun baking-themed cards! Recipe for Cute Cards- Make it and Bake It Collection, S6-266, S5-728, S5-726, S5-731, S5-727, STP-267, E3D-162 I’m Marie, from Marie Nicole Designs, and I’m so excited to share these creations with you today. This collection, Make It and Bake It by Tina Smith, is SO delicious! The die sets are so detailed and cute, and the sentiments that go with them give just the right finishing flavor. Let’s take a look! Recipe for Cute Cards- Make it and Bake It Collection, S6-266, S5-728, S5-726, S5-731, S5-727, STP-267, E3D-162 To begin whipping up some delicious cards, I grabbed the Cool It Cookie Rack die set. That baking sheet caught my eye, and I knew it was too fun to pass up. I cut the baking sheet pieces with a combination of grey and silver cardstock, and then I added some shading with splatters with some black Distress Ink. I don’t know about you, but my kitchen baking sheets are very well-loved, and they aren’t perfectly shiny anymore. But they DO make some good cookies! Recipe for Cute Cards- Make it and Bake It Collection, S6-266, S5-728, S5-726, S5-731, S5-727, STP-267, E3D-162 I also cut the cookies from the same set that includes the baking sheet, but I knew I also wanted some accessories. So I grabbed the Fluff, Frost, and Roll set and cut out and assembled the spatula and piping bag to add around the baking sheet. The oven mitt is from the Made With Love set, and I finished this card using a sentiment from the clear stamp set, Sugared Expressions. And to finish my cookies, I had some heart-shaped clay sprinkles I just glued onto the icing. I wanted to combine the colors and sentiments on this set of cards to create some fun Valentines! Recipe for Cute Cards- Make it and Bake It Collection, S6-266, S5-728, S5-726, S5-731, S5-727, STP-267, E3D-162 For my second card, I could not wait to assemble the little hand mixer from the Magic Mixer die set. How cute are those little beaters! I cut the beaters with some of the same shiny silver cardstock I used for the baking rack, and then assembled the hand mixer with a combination of pink and light blue cardstock. The bowl I assembled with red, cream, and brown papers, and I even made the bowl into a shaker element. This is so easy to do! I just cut about four layers of the bowl, added a piece of acetate behind the first layer, and then stacked the remaining layers behind. This elevates the shape, giving space behind to fill with your shaker bits. I used the same clay hearts I used for the cookie sprinkles. Recipe for Cute Cards- Make it and Bake It Collection, S6-266, S5-728, S5-726, S5-731, S5-727, STP-267, E3D-162 Now, the bowl and the handmixer I applied over my background that I embossed using the Confection Companions 3D Embossing Folder. I love the fun embossed images on there! You absolutely can color or ink blend over this embossed background, but I used it as a texture behind our main focal elements. Then, I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of cardstock and applied it with some foam adhesive. Recipe for Cute Cards- Make it and Bake It Collection, S6-266, S5-728, S5-726, S5-731, S5-727, STP-267, E3D-162 Last, but not least, I used the Made With Love set again and assembled the apron and another oven mitt. I just love the combination of pinks, reds, and blues for Valentines, so I stuck with that overall color palette.  Along with the apron and oven mitt, I filled the front of this card with the chocolate chip cookies that are included in the set. They just look good enough to eat! Recipe for Cute Cards- Make it and Bake It Collection, S6-266, S5-728, S5-726, S5-731, S5-727, STP-267, E3D-162 The front panel of the card is mounted on foam adhesive and adhered to the card base, which is again embossed. And to finish this card, I glued down the little “made with love” sentiment on the side of the front panel with black cardstock. So that’s it! A trio of delicious cards that were so fun to whip up! This whole collection is SO cute and works together SO beautifully that you cannot go wrong with any of the sets. Mix and match for some fun creations! Sweet Cardmaking Inspiration with the Spellbinders Make It & Bake It Collection

Sweet Cardmaking Inspiration with the Spellbinders Make It & Bake It Collection

Hello crafty friends! It’s Lisa Tilson, and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog with you today. I’m here to share some inspiration with the Make It and Bake It Collection. This is a really sweet and fun collection, which mostly consists of die sets that cover all manner of things related to baking. There is also a 3D embossing folder and some punny sentiments in the form of a clear stamp set. I had fun making these cards – the sets are so well thought through and very interchangeable. I love that the collection includes some flowers that can be added to mixing bowls, baking tools, your apron, and mixer, for example, to really “prettify” your designs! So, let’s get into the cards.

Because You’re The Cherry On Top

For this card, I am using the Made With Love Etched Dies, which feature an apron and baking gloves as well as a flower, cookie, and cupcake. There is also a “Made With Love” sentiment die in this set. Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. I began by die-cutting the apron from Seaside, Waterfall, and Teal Topaz ColorWheel Cardstock. I adhered the pieces together using Bearly Art Glue, apart from the pocket on the front, which I popped up with some White Foam Squares.
  2. Next, I die cut the flower from Tutu Cardstock. You cut the flower die twice and layer it up to create the full flower. The leaves were die cut from Rainforest and Peridot.
  3. I wanted to include some smaller flowers as well, so I took the Mini Guitar Etched Dies (love this set!) and die cut some of the flowers from Wild Berry and Blush with Beeswax for the flower centres. I also die cut the leaves from this set from Rainforest and Peridot.
  4. I adhered them all with liquid glue and set them to one side.
Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. I thought it would be sweet to include a sentiment from Fountain Wishes Sentiments BetterPress Plate and Die Set, and so I foiled the plate onto Classic White Cardstock using Opaque Black Glimmer Hot Foil and the Glimmer Hot Foil System.
  2. The sentiments were cut out with the coordinating die, and I cut an extra layer from white card so that I could adhere two layers of my sentiment together for stability.
  3. Of course, I then needed to add some cherries into the mix! So, I took the Fountain Wishes Etched Dies and die cut the cherry and stem twice from Poppy and Rainforest cardstock. I adhered them onto the pocket with liquid glue.
Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. To add some pretty detail to my background, I took an A2 panel of Classic White cardstock and ran it through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine with the largest die from Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies.
  2. I adhered the panel onto a side-folding A2 white note card.
  3. The apron was added on top using White Foam Squares.
  4. I then adhered all the little flowers and leaves “on the diagonal” using either Bearly Art Glue or small pieces of White Foam Square.
  5. I finished by adding my sentiment using White Foam Squares. I also added a gem from Spectrum AB Color Essential Gems onto the centre of the bow to give the card the tiniest bit of sparkle!

Have The Sweetest Birthday

My next card uses the Magic Mixer Etched Dies and the Cool It Cookie Rack Etched Dies. Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. I started off by die-cutting almost all of the dies from the Magic Mixer Etched Dies. I used Seaside, Waterfall, Blush, Truffle, and Fawn for the bowl and cookie mix.
  2. For the hand mixer, I used Blush, Tutu, Wild Berry, Anchor, Fawn, and Truffle. The whisk die was cut from Silver Assortment Treasured Cardstock (Brushed Metallic).
  3. Note: There are two dies which cut small pieces of cardstock that you can adhere behind the lines on the mixer to give them some extra colour. I used a small piece of double-sided tape to glue my little heart in place.

  1. The cookies and flower are from Cool It Cookie Rack Etched Dies. I die cut them from Fawn, Blush, Tutu, Seaside, and Classic White.
  2. I adhered all the pieces together with Bearly Art Glue.
  3. Next, I took an A2 panel of Classic White cardstock and ran it through my die-cutting machine with the largest die from Linear Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies. This was then adhered onto an A2 horizontal top-folding white note card.
  4. My bowl was popped onto the panel using liquid glue, and the mixer added with some White Foam Squares. The cookies were added with a mix of both liquid glue and foam squares.
Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. My sentiment comes from (the very handy!) Fountain Wishes Sentiments BetterPress Plate and Die Set. It was foiled with Opaque Black Foil and cut out with the coordinating die. I die cut an extra layer to sit behind it and then added it with some wet adhesive.
  2. To finish the card, I popped some Crystal Mix Gems into the centres of the cookies and flower.

Nothing A Little Cookie Dough Can’t Cure

For my third and final card, I used the Cool it Cookie Rack Etched Dies and the Sugared Expressions Clear Stamp Set. I love a grid-style card and often look for opportunities to make one! I thought these sweet cookies would work well for that format. Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. I took the Cool It Cookie Rack Etched Dies and cut the main cookie shapes from Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock.
  2. Using a Blending Brush, I blended some Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink around the edges to darken them a little bit.
  3. For the circular and flower-shaped cookies, I die cut the middle-sized die from Classic White cardstock. I thought this would serve as my white icing.
  4. I then die cut the detail circle, and flower dies from Blush, Tutu, Seaside, and Waterfall, and added them on top.
Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. For the hearts and star, I die cut the “icing” again from white card. Then it was time for some glitter!
  2. I added liquid glue onto each of the white heart and star die cuts and then sprinkled Ranger Distress Stickles Rock Candy Dry Glitter over them and left them to dry. I love using glitter in this way. You can create a much more uneven texture than if you use glitter cardstock. The sparkle in real life is fabulous!
  3. I popped some White Foam Squares onto the back of each of the cookies and set them to one side whilst I made the rest of the card.
  4. My background panel is created from die-cutting the scalloped rectangle die from Bow and Bell Scallop Frame Etched Dies. I adore the pretty scalloped detail around the edge!
Mixing It Up & Baking Sweet Treats!, S5-728, S6-266, S5-727, STP-267, S3-351, S5-647, BP-338, S5-725, S4-1448, S5-721
  1. I popped it into my MISTI and stamped a sentiment from Sugared Expressions Clear Stamp Set onto it using Versafine Onyx Black Ink, and it was then adhered onto an A2 panel of Waterfall Cardstock. This was then added to a side-folding A2 white note card.
  2. I eyeballed the grid layout and popped all the cookies in place. Even though I eyeballed the layout, I did start by adding the three cookies in the vertical centre column. It was then pretty easy to add the rest.
  3. To finish, I added some Crystal Mix Color Essential Gems onto a few of the cookie centres.
That brings us to the end of my three cards using this sweet collection. I hope they give you some ideas for using these fun and cute sets! We will all know someone who loves to bake, so this is a fabulous set of dies to have in your stash. If you would like to see more of my cards, I would love to have you join me over on my blog, Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. In the meantime, thank you so much for joining me here on the Spellbinders blog today. I hope that you have a wonderful day!
