Classic Florals & Regal Details: Card Making with the Regal Reflections Collection

Hello Spellbinders Fans! It’s Amy Tsuruta, and I’m so happy to be back on the Spellbinders blog sharing these three cards featuring the Regal Reflections Collection. I did a bit of homework regarding the famous Staffordshire dog ceramic figures. They are from the early 17th century and started as gifts that could be purchased on the street from local artists. They were popular Victorian mantelpiece decorations inspired by Queen Victoria's King Charles Spaniels. When these figures moved into canvas art, artists recreated their recognizable forms in still lifes and decorative paintings, reflecting their popularity as cherished household symbols, even though the originals were porcelain or earthenware rather than paintings. A DAY TO REMEMBER

I love fresh flowers, and the Regal Blooms set makes it so easy to build a gorgeous bouquet. I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for Spring. I picked colors that remind me of my favorite season.  This color palette can easily work for any recipient. Sending Pawsitive Vibes, S4-1465, S5-695, STP-274, S4-1466, E3D-147, S5-721
TIP: I like to keep my color palette to about three colors. For this floral card, it is Chiffon, Bellini, Coral, and Mint.

HELLO FRIEND

Out of the trio, this was the first card that I designed.  I knew that I wanted to use the dogs as a duo and for them to be black and white. I think this is my favorite from this set of cards. I’m a huge fan of white space. I love Spellbinders' attention to details, like those pillows and the trim/tassel piece. Sending Pawsitive Vibes, S4-1465, S5-695, STP-274, S4-1466, E3D-147, S5-721
  • Start with a Chiffon A2 panel.
  • Using the Regal Lattice 3D Embossing Folder, I used the bottom design with white cardstock. Trim the panel by .75 inch all around.
  • Cut the medium rectangle in the Linear Touch Rectangles and Tag set in both white and Blossom. Cut a Mint panel to go on top of the Blossom. Using the rectangle die, cut the white frame out and add it on top of the Mint and Blossom.
  • Die cut two Mint pillows and coordinating gold glitter trim/tassles.
  • The two dogs were cut in white with black details. The cheeks are copic colored R22. The harness is cut from Dahlia Colorwheel cardstock.
  • Stamp the Hello Friend sentiment from the Lasting Impression Sentiments stamp set in black.
  • Assemble all the layers onto an A2 folded cardbase.
TIP: Adding texture in white doesn’t take away from the black contrasting details.

SIMPLY, THANK YOU

I wanted to have at least one of the dogs in Cosmic Sky cardstock. That shade of blue reminds me of the popular blue and white Asian porcelain. Sending Pawsitive Vibes, S4-1465, S5-695, STP-274, S4-1466, E3D-147, S5-721
  • Using the Regal Lattice 3D Embossing Folder, I used the top design with white cardstock.
  • Cut Coral cardstock with the Arch Punch & Pierce Plate. Use the two smaller arches. Adhere them together with adhesive on the backside.
  • Using the Regal Pair, cut one pillow in Raven and use gold glitter cardstock for the trim/tassel.
  • Cut the dog using Cosmic Sky and White cardstock. The harness is Dahlia. Glue all the pieces together.
  • Stamp the sentiment from the Lasting Impression Sentiments stamp set in black. Cut it into a strip.
  • Assemble all the layers onto an A2 folded cardbase.
TIP: The Regal Lattice 3D Embossing Folder has two different designs. This makes it a great deal since it is two patterns that are normally one.

Turn Paper into Art with the Regal Reflection Collection

Hello, crafty friends! I am Heejung Hunsberger, and I am so honored to be joining Spellbinders today as a Guest Designer to introduce the stunning new Regal Reflection Collection. You can also find more of my work on my Blog and Instagram. Additionally, I have a YouTube channel where I regularly post video tutorials. For this collection, I focused on a classic and elegant look. I got my ideas from beautiful buildings and pretty gardens. From the detailed pierce plates to the cute characters, I made these sets to help you create cards that look like art. I am delighted to share three unique card designs today, showcasing how these elements can be layered to create sophisticated and heartfelt cards.

Your Grace Inspires Card

Elegant & Grand: Introducing the Regal Reflection Collection, S5-695, S4-1465, E3D-147, STP-274, S4-1466, S5-526, BPOM-JAN26 This card features a unique arch-shaped base, layered with different colors to create a classic look. • Creating the Shaped Base: To make the arch-shaped card base, fold white cardstock in half. Place the large arch die from the Arch Punch & Pierce Plate over the folded paper. Ensure the cutting edge on the left side is slightly outside the fold so it doesn't cut the folded line. Run it through the machine to get your shaped card base.

Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card

Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card

Hello crafters! It’s Lisa Tilson here with you today on the Spellbinders blog. I’m thrilled to be here to show you how to create a pretty birthday card featuring the Regal Blooms Etched Dies, which form part of the new Regal Reflections Collection. This collection contains three sets of etched dies, including the floral set I am using today, along with a set of two cats and also a set of nesting dies. In addition, there is a 3D embossing folder which you can use to get two different embossed looks plus a clear sentiment stamp set which works for many different occasions. So, here is the card I will be creating for you today. Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647 I will be taking you through the creation of the card step-by-step and it is almost all die cutting but I do heat emboss the sentiment. Okay, so let’s get started! I use the standard Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine sandwich for all of my die cutting today. From bottom to top, your plates should be as follows:
  • Platform Base (A)
  • Platform Top (B)
  • Cutting Plate (C)
  • Cutting Plate (C)
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Let’s start by taking a look at the Regal Blooms Etched Dies set. I have grouped the dies together so that you can see what you will be working with. On the left are all the dies that create the stems and foliage. In the middle, there are the two dies which make up the vase and on the right you have all the dies that you use to create the flowers.
  2. We are going to be working for the most part from five colours of ColorWheel Cardstock. The colours are Rainforest, Peridot, Seaside, Waterfall, and Teal Topaz. I do use a different colour for the vase, though, which is Blue Spruce.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. In the picture above, I place the dies onto their respective coloured cardstocks so you can easily see what is being cut from each colour. I then flip all the dies over and tape them onto the cardstock using Best Ever Craft Tape.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Next, I run the dies through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine. You can see the plate sandwich I am using here.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Next, I will be die-cutting some more leaves, the base for the vase, an extra stem, and the next colour of cardstock for the flowers. By the end, I have die cut the flowers from Seaside, Waterfall, and Teal Topaz, and I have die cut multiples of the flowers, stems, and leaves so I have lots to play with.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Using your Tool ‘n One, pop out all the little sections from the flowers and the vase.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. You can see above how I store all my die cuts that are ready for assembly. I use a Stax Tray to keep everything in one place, so I don’t lose any of the smaller die cuts!
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I am going to finish the die cutting elements of the card before we start gluing everything together. So, I next die cut an A2 panel (4.25” x 5.5”) of Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock using the largest die from Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies. This set gives your card panel a really pretty detail around the edges.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. We can now begin to adhere our largest flowers together. They have three layers, so I am starting by adhering the middle layer to the base using Bearly Art Glue.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I then glue the top layer onto that, and then I finish adhering all of the other larger flowers together.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Next, I move onto the smaller flowers. This particular flower is just two layers, so I go ahead and adhere the top layer to the base and repeat for all the other similar die cuts.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I finish off by adhering all of the other smaller flowers together.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Next, glue the detailed vase die cut onto the base layer using Bearly Art Glue.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Add some White Foam Adhesive Squares onto the back of the vase and pop it onto your white panel.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Start to adhere your stems. You will notice in the previous photo that I didn’t add any foam squares to the top area on the back of the vase. This is so that I can easily adhere the stems behind the neck. I start off by adding five stems, but later on you will notice that I add another stem in so that I fill a gap I wasn’t happy with!
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Next, I glued the largest flowers onto the stems. I just used two of this size of flower in my design.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I followed that by adding some of the smaller flowers. I found it easier to add the flowers in their respective groups e.g. all of the same type in one go.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I now add the final batch of flowers.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I finish by adhering my leaves. At this point, you will see that the additional stem I mentioned above has appeared towards the right-hand side of the panel. I felt that it balanced the design a bit more. I set the panel to the side to work on the sentiment.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I popped a piece of Raven ColorWheel Cardstock into my MISTI Stamping Tool. I then took the “Happy Birthday” sentiment from Lasting Impressions Sentiments Clear Stamp Set and placed it down onto the black panel. I then picked it up with the door of my MISTI.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I ran an anti-static powder bag over the stamping area. This will help prevent any loose bits of embossing powder sticking to the cardstock where I don’t want it to.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I inked up my sentiment stamp using Hero Arts Clear Embossing and Watermark Ink.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I then closed the MISTI door and stamped the sentiment down onto the black cardstock.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I applied Hero Arts White Detail Embossing Powder and heat set the sentiment off-camera.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. Using a Guillotine Paper Trimmer, I trimmed the sentiment down to size.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I then added some pieces of Black Foam Adhesive Square onto the back of the sentiment and removed the backing tape. The sentiment was then popped onto the vase.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. I always like to add some sparkle to my cards, so I finished by adhering some Aquamarine AB Color Essentials Gems.
Step-by-Step Tutorial: Intertwined Delicate Flowers For A Birthday Card, S4-1465, STP-274, S5-647
  1. The panel was then glued onto an A2 top-folding white note card that I created using Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock (11” x 4.25”, scored at 5.5”).
I hope that my tutorial has given you some ideas for this lovely die set. If you would like to see more of my cards, I would love to have you join me over on my blog, Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube. In the meantime, thank you so much for spending time with me here on the blog today. I hope that you have a wonderful day!
