A Symphony of Creativity, Musical Cards That Delight

A Symphony of Creativity, Musical Cards That Delight

Hello friends, I’m Lorena Wakefield, and I’m so excited to share my latest project as a guest designer on the Spellbinders blog! Today I’m showcasing the fun and versatile Musical Notes Collection by Bibi Cameron for Spellbinders. This collection is full of charm and perfect for celebrating music lovers, birthdays, and any occasion that deserves a happy tune. I created three very different cards, all inspired by instruments and melodies.

Colorful Notes for My Brother

A Symphony of Creativity, Musical Cards That Delight, S5-687, STP-257 For the first card, I wanted something playful and bright. I die-cut the wavy music staff in black and added a rainbow of colorful notes dancing across it. A few enamel dots sprinkled in made the card even more cheerful. To finish, I stamped the sentiment Brother, You Rock in the corner. This card feels like a burst of joy, perfect for sending a happy surprise to a sibling.

3D Guitar Box Card

A Symphony of Creativity, Musical Cards That Delight, S3-551, STP-257 The star of the set is definitely this red guitar! I die-cut and assembled the pieces into a 3D box card that opens up, and the surprise is that inside it hides a birthday message. I added gold accents to the guitar for an elegant touch and included all the string details for a realistic finish. This one was so much fun to make, and it’s sure to be a keepsake for the recipient.

Grand Piano of Thanks

A Symphony of Creativity, Musical Cards That Delight, S4-1445, S5-687, S3-551 For the last card, I created a grand piano silhouette in classic black and white. The die-cut keyboard at the bottom sets the stage, and I added a cluster of pastel flowers on top for a soft and pretty contrast. Musical notes float upward, and the sentiment “A little happy note to say thank you” ties everything together. It’s an elegant card that would work beautifully as a thank you for a music teacher, mentor, or friend. I had so much fun making this musical trio; each card tells its own little story, from playful to elegant to surprising. The Bibi’s Musical Notes Collection makes it easy to strike just the right chord for your projects. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope these ideas inspire you to create something harmonious for your next crafty session! Happy crafting, Lorena Wakefield [spellbinders-supplies]S3-551,S4-1445,S5-687,S6-254,STP-257,CSA-007,CSA-006[/spellbinders-supplies]

A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect

A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Marie here again from Marie Nicole Designs, and I’m thrilled to share the Beautifully Imperfect Collection with you today. I used this collection and MOST of its goodies (there are SO MANY great items in this collection!) to create this group of cards. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 This collection contains 3D Embossing folders, patterned paper, Better Press plates, a stencil, dies, stamps, and ephemera. With all those options, you can create a collection of cards in no time. Let me show you a few that I put together! A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 I just had to use these cute little birds with the Tangled Threads dies to make this card with birds on a line. I used the stencil for the background, blending together the colors Salvaged Patina and Worn Lipstick. These colors make such a pretty purple where they meet in the middle. And, these colors coordinate very well with the colors in this collection. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 After I had the background stripes stenciled, I added the line, the birds, and a sentiment that I created with the Better Press plates. For a finishing touch, I added a few of the heart shapes that are included in the ephemera packs. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 My next two cards feature somewhat similar design choices. I used the embossing folders to create the backgrounds, and then layered a collection of the handy and ready-to-use ephemera pieces and sentiments as a focal piece on top. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 There are honestly so many ephemera pieces to mix and match that you could mass-produce cards quickly if you needed to! I left the backgrounds white, mostly, but you could always ink blend over them, or use a colored cardstock if you wanted. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 The focal point for this next card is that stunning butterfly in the background! I used the Better Press plate, but I foiled it! Yes, did you know you could foil with the Better Press plates? Use them just the same way you would use a foiling plate, and the results are stunning. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 I used a gold foil to first press the butterfly image into the background. Then, I used the same ink colors- Salvaged Patina and Worn Lipstick- to ink blend over it. I finished the card with a few butterfly pieces and a sentiment. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 My last card also features stripes, but this time, I used a sheet of the patterned paper from the collection. I love how the paper has such a realistic look to it. The print actually looks torn and wrinkled! I cut a piece of the paper down to A2 size, and then layered on some of the outlined-style flowers on top. A Collection of Colorful Cards with Beautifully Imperfect, BP-323,SCSP-023,SCSP-025,E3D-156,STN-111 I just Love that vintage camera, so I layered that with the flowers and found the sentiment that said “Smile”, and placed that, as well. Now, I know I gave you FIVE cards to gaze at in today’s post, but there are so many ways to use this collection. The papers, stamps, plates, folders, dies, and also rub-on sheets that coordinate provide myriad ways to create. I cannot wait to see what you will do with this collection! So thanks so much for stopping by the Spellbinder’s blog today, and I hope to catch you next time! How to Tint Papers and Die-cuts to Suit Your Color Palette

How to Tint Papers and Die-cuts to Suit Your Color Palette

Hello there, Michelle Short here, and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog using the Beautifully Imperfect Collection. This is such a beautiful collection for all sorts of papercrafts – cards, scrapbooks, mixed media, etc., filled with dies, embossing folders, papers, rub-ons, die-cut shapes, plus lots more! Whilst this isn’t my go-to style for card making, I tend to prefer clean and simple designs, I loved playing with this collection to fit it into my own style!

JUST BECAUSE

My first card uses the Beautifully Imperfect Die Cut Shapes. Whilst I love the colours in this collection, I wanted to bump up the pinks and aquas with some colour tinting. HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375 To make this card: The die-cut shapes have a border of off-white paper around them. I did not want that on my card, so I cut it off, but you can leave that there if fussy cutting is not your thing. HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375 HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375
TIP: With colour tinting, you want to make sure that the colours that are already on the die cuts are similar to what you want the finished result to be. For example, the flowers were pink and cream, and I made them a more vibrant magenta pink. The leaves were green and cream, and by adding ink on top, I changed them to have a slightly more teal tone. You wouldn’t want to start with a blue flower and try and add pink to tint, unless you wanted purple as the finished result!

CELEBRATE IN YOUR OWN STYLE

My next card uses the Beautifully Imperfect 6 x 6” Printed Paper for my focal point, again using colour tinting to change the colours on the paper slightly. HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375 To make this card: HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375
TIP: This printed paper is nice and thick, but if you were to try this with thinner paper, you may want to adhere the image first to cardstock and then fussy cut out before adhering with foam squares, to give the image more stability.

TORN PAPER HUG

For my last project, I’m using Beautifully Imperfect Die Cut Shapes again, along with color tinting but this time in a more subtle way. HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375 To make the card: HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375 HOW TO TINT PAPERS AND DIE-CUTS TO SUIT YOUR COLOR PALETTE, SCSE-024, SDS-215, SCSP-025, SCSR-006, E3D-155, S4-1481, BPI-049, STP-238, S4-1375
TIP: Adding an extra point of interest (the zig-zag die cut) on the left side of the tag balances out the design with the sentiment overhanging on the right side.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my projects today, and I have inspired you to tinting paper to fit with the colour scheme of your project! Thank you so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day!
