Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card

Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card

Hi there, crafty friends! I’m Rebecca Keppel, and I adore the new Country Christmas Collection designed by Annie Williams for Spellbinders. I am sharing a tutorial today on how to create a Christmas card with three different supplies from this collection. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 Starting with the Barn Star Wreath Etched Dies, die cut a full star with the outline die out of two colors of cardstock. I chose Waterfall Cardstock and some silver foil cardstock. Then place the decorative dies for each of the star points on top of one of the die-cut stars and hold them in place with Spellbinders Best Ever Craft Tape. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 Run that star with all of its decorative pieces taped on it through your die-cut machine. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 The Barn Star Wreath Etched Dies come with two sets of decorative pieces. And the star can either be dimensional or flat. For the red star I used one decorative set and used the score lines to create a dimensional star. On the Waterfall colored star, I used the other decorative set, and I will be adhering it to the silver cardstock and keeping it flat. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 The Barn Star Wreath Etched Dies set also comes with a number of layering dies that are accessories to add to your star wreath. There is a layered bow, orange, acorn, and more. I used liquid adhesive to put these layers together. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 To create my background, I used the Country Christmas 3D Embossing Folder to emboss a piece of cardstock. Especially with 3D embossing folders, I like to first mist the cardstock with the Spellbinders Mighty Mister. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 Then run it through your die-cut machine. I get the best results using the Spellbinders Universal Plate System, which has an adapter plate for the Spellbinders 3D embossing folders. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 My cardstock was 4.25x5.5” so I decided to trim it down with the Spellbinders Guillotine Trimmer to 4.0x5.25” Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 Next, I used some Spellbinders Tape Runner to adhere the embossed panel to an A2 piece of white cardstock Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 For the sentiment, I used the Country Christmas Banner and Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set. I started by using the BetterPress System with BetterPress Black Ink and BetterPress Porcelain A2 Cardstock to letterpress the sentiment onto the cardstock. The sentiment plate sits on the magnetic platform, while the cardstock is taped to the clear plate. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 Then flip the clear plate over so the cardstock is touching the inked-up BetterPress sentiment and run that through your die-cut machine. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 I love when BetterPress sentiments come with coordinating dies because then you can simply hold the die in place over the sentiment with tape and run through your die-cut machine to cut it out. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 I used Foam Squares to add dimension behind the star when adhering it to the background. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307   You can use Small Foam Squares to pop up the sentiment and even cut one in half to pop up the bow. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 Use a mix of foam squares and liquid adhesive to get layers of dimension of the accessories adhered to the star wreath. Step by Step: Country Barn Inspired Star Wreath Card, S5-700,E3D-144,BP-307 Once you have everything die-cut out and ready to go, you get to enjoy decorating the star however you like! Create a cluster of colorful die cuts in the center, and they look just like wreath accents on a barn star wreath! I love die sets like this where you really can’t go wrong…no matter how you adorn your star, it is going to look pretty! And the coordinating 3D Embossing Folder and Sentiment set makes it easy to pull the rest of the card together! Thanks so much for stopping by today!
