Creative Director

Spellbinders Paper Arts recently acquired the Hero Arts brand and we need a Creative Director! In this position you will inspire and lead a team of designers and other creatives to produce collections and designs that captivate card makers and artists alike.

The Creative Director will drive the artistic vision for the company, with specific emphasis on product development, including monthly subscription products, collection releases, and other special product releases. While stamps will be at the foundation of development, supporting products including dies, stencils, letterpress and foil plates, printed paper, and related products may also be considered. Collaboration with cross functional teams – including Creative Services, Sales, Marketing and Product Management - is critical to ensure deadlines are met and the organization delivers launches on time and with impact. 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Set the creative vision for the brand, leading design development for all house-branded products. Specifically:
  • Initiate product design by providing inspiration and ideation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends, craft industry innovations, and consumer preferences.
  • Collaborate with Graphic Designers to refine product design, test prototypes and finalize design.
  • Oversee project design to be used on packaging and additional projects as needed for catalogs and other promotional materials, which may include actual project creation.
  • Goal to develop: 6-10 products/month for subscription, 10-15 products per month for traditional monthly releases. The numbers may vary slightly from month to month, higher for holiday and other key launch time frames.
  • Consult on Licensed Designer / Influencer releases to provide value-added insights and ideas and to ensure they complement the brand.
    • This may include identifying possible design collaborators, offering design suggestions to improve collections, and consulting on art direction.
  • Work cross-functionally to share trends in the marketplace and to help identify new potential design partners (both for products and projects), including the development of a team of card makers that can contribute to projects needed for packaging, sales and promotional materials.
  • Identify opportunities in our offerings and work with Product Managers and Sourcing team to find potential solutions.
  • Work with the VP of Innovation to identify and vet potential innovative new product offerings that go beyond the scope of our current offerings.
  • Collaborate with/manage team of 3 graphic designers.
  • Travel to home office ~4 times a year to review design concepts, timelines and larger initiatives (catalog development, for example).

Experience & Skills Required

  • Experience working as a creative or art director
  • Experience managing a team of creative individuals
  • Ideal candidate will have experience within papercrafting, with a specific focus on cardmaking
  • Strong grasp of design principles such as color theory and composition

UK Marketing Manager

We’re looking to expand our digital marketing team to help drive our ecommerce sales channel in the United Kingdom and Europe. Must be a self-starter and have the ability to articulate and champion marketing best practices and standards for the UK and European markets. This role will be in the United Kingdom within our satellite partner office in Nottinghamshire and will be our main UK liaison. This role will also work very closely with our US based team regularly.

Key Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Manage ecommerce website using Shopify. Includes product loading, merchandising, managing pages, and more.
  • Will assist in overall marketing strategic planning in the UK and EU markets.
  • Manage overall email and SMS strategy in the UK and EU markets.
  • Will be responsible for writing copy and collaborating with the marketing & graphic design team to design email, SMS, social media, paid ads, and on-site merchandising assets.
  • Will help build out and manage a detailed automated email flows to drive maximum revenue.
  • Will implement an evolved lead profiling or scoring system to evaluate activity, engagement and affinity as well as recommending how to prioritize leads accordingly.
  • Drive A/B testing and optimization to improve email effectiveness.
  • Measure and report performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs).
  • Identify trends and insights and optimize spend and performance based on the insights.
  • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies.
  • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies and other vendor partners
  • Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

  • 3+ Years of relevant email marketing or ecommerce experience
  • Must have a solid understanding of, Shopify, Klaviyo (or similar ESP), current marketing apps, tools, and strategies and be able to lead integrated digital marketing campaigns from concept to execution.
