Sugar and Spice And All Things Nice!

Sugar and Spice And All Things Nice!

Hello crafty friends! It’s Lisa Tilson here with you today on the Spellbinders blog. I’m excited to be here to share some inspiration with the Candy Christmas Collection from Stamperia. This is a super sweet and cute release, guaranteed to have you running for those sugary treats in no time! In the collection, you have a Gingerbread House, Gingerbread Train, Gingerbread Plane(with some cute banners), a Gingerbread Man (or woman!) with a parachute or hot air balloon, a lovely waffle cone pattern 3D embossing folder, and some festive border dies. So, let’s get started on my three cards for today.

Merry Christmas

This first card features the Gingerbread House Etched Dies and the Waffle Cone 3D Embossing Folder. Sugar and Spice And All Things Nice! S4-1492, E3D-157, S5-713, S7-280, S4-1489, S4-1486, BP-199, S5-526
  1. I started off by embossing my background panel. I ran some Blush ColorWheel Cardstock through my Platinum 6 Die Cutting Machine with the Waffle Cone 3D Embossing Folder.
  2. To give a slightly different look to my card, I wanted to show the debossed side behind my house. So, I popped some Bearly Art Glue onto the raised embossed side of the panel and adhered it onto a top folding A2 white note card.
  3. Then I took the Gingerbread House Etched Dies and I die cut them from Hero Arts Sand Cardstock and Tutu ColorWheel Cardstock. I also die cut the snow on the roof, chimney, and ground from some Pop-Up Die Cutting White Glitter Foam Sheets. The icing was cut from 80lb white card as was the base of the house, which you use to add all your pieces onto.

  1. To give the house a kind of “baked” look, using a Hero Arts Blending Brush, I applied Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink around the edges of the house and chimney. Quick and simple, but it makes a difference to the end result.
  2. Time to assemble the house! I first adhered the gingerbread house onto its white base. The chimney and window frames were then added onto the back of the house. I then popped a small square of Seaside ColorWheel Cardstock behind the window just to add some colour.
  3. Next, I adhered the door, icing, and glittery snow using wet adhesive.
  4. To frame my house, I die cut an arch from Essential Arch Etched Dies and added it onto my embossed panel using some foam squares.
  5. The house was then positioned towards the bottom of the arch, again with some foam squares.

  1. For my sentiment, I took the Mistletoe Greetings Press Plate and Die Set and foiled one of the sentiment set plates using some Matte Gold Foil and the Glimmer Hot Foil System.
  2. I cut all the sentiments out in one go with the matching die and then adhered the “Merry Christmas” above the house using foam squares.
  3. To finish, I added some Fashion Oyster Color Essential Pearl Dots to the snow on the roof and also one for the door handle.

Sweet Christmas

My next card uses the Gingerbread Train Etched Dies as well as the Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Dies and the Sweet Borders Etched Dies. This train was really fun to put together! There are a couple of additional carriages you can tag onto the back of the train and it would look fabulous on a slimline card. Think carriages of cake and gloopy icing and you are there! Sugar and Spice And All Things Nice! S4-1492, E3D-157, S5-713, S7-280, S4-1489, S4-1486, BP-199, S5-526
  1. There’s quite a lot of die cutting involved for the train, but if you do it section by section, it doesn’t take too long. I started off by die-cutting the die that you will use as a landing base for your other die cuts.
  2. I used Wild Berry, Dahlia, Tutu, Blush, Seaside, and Truffle ColorWheel Cardstock along with Hero Arts Sand Cardstock.
  3. Onto all of the sand pieces, I added some Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink, just to give them a little bit of extra interest.
  4. I then started to assemble the other bits by first adhering the wheels onto the dark brown die cut.
  5. Next, I adhered all the sections that would sit above that dark brown piece.
  6. Once I had done those, I then adhered the dark brown bottom on. It felt easier for me to do it this way around, rather than add the dark brown bottom first and then the other pieces above it. I thought I may not leave myself quite enough room, and this way, you get a more even finish.

  1. I then took the Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Dies and die cut one of the banners from white card and Wild Berry ColorWheel Cardstock.
  2. I adhered them together with Bearly Art Glue and set them to one side.
  3. I thought it would be fun to have the train positioned on an iced border, so I took the Sweet Borders Etched Dies and die cut them from Tutu and Hero Arts Sand.
  4. Using brushes, I applied Worn Lipstick Distress Ink to the pink piece and Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink to the brown piece.
  5. They were adhered together using a wet adhesive.

  1. To assemble the card, I simply glued the icing border to the bottom of a white A2 panel. The train and banner sentiment were then adhered using foam squares.
  2. I popped the whole panel onto a horizontal top folding A2 white note card and added some Fashion Oyster Color Essentials Pearl Dots for embellishment.

Joyous Wishes

For my last card, I used the Gingerbread Delivery Etched Dies and had my little gingerbread man hanging from a parachute that is floating in the sky. Sugar and Spice And All Things Nice! S4-1492, E3D-157, S5-713, S7-280, S4-1489, S4-1486, BP-199, S5-526
  1. I began by creating the background so that it would have time to dry. I used my favourite colour of cardstock – Seaside – and popped it into my Splat Box.
  2. Using a number 2 round paint brush, I splattered some gold paint all over it and left it to dry.
  3. I then moved onto the die cutting. Taking the Gingerbread Delivery Etched Dies, I die cut the gingerbread man and his accessories from Blush and Tutu ColorWheel Cardstock, as well as the icing from white and the body from Hero Arts Sand.
  4. As I did before, I added some ink onto the gingerbread man to help him look baked!
  5. The candy cane was then die cut from Wild Berry and white card and adhered to his hand using Bearly Art Glue.

  1. Lastly, I die cut the balloon from white, Wild Berry, and Dahlia.
  2. I assembled all the remaining pieces and added some foam squares onto the back of the gingerbread man and parachute before adhering it onto my splattered panel.
  3. For my sentiment, I used the Mistletoe Greetings Press Plate and Die Set. The sentiment was foiled with Matte Gold Foil and cut out with the coordinating die.
  4. I adhered it onto a plain white banner, just slightly offset for a little more interest, and then added it onto the card.

  1. To finish, I added a couple of Fashion Oyster Color Essentials Pearl Dots onto his tummy.
That finishes my three cards with this adorable collection. I hope they give you some ideas for your own creations.
