Hi there, this is
Annie Williams and I’m thrilled to be back on the blog today to share a couple of pretty cards made with the new
Spring In Kyoto Collection by Alex Syberia Designs. The beautiful die sets, gorgeous backgrounds, and classic sentiments in this collection inspired me to create three simple and elegant cards for a variety of occasions.
KOKESHI DOLL HELLO CARD
The
Kokeshi Dolls Die Set is so beautiful, and I love how you can customize different parts of the doll for different recipients. Here I used a classic red, black, and gold color scheme for this easy and pretty hello card for a friend.

Die cut
Raven,
Poppy, and
Mirror Gold Cardstock using the
Kokeshi Dolls Die Set and assemble with liquid glue. I chose the single bun and layered floral designs to personalize the doll for my friend, and added a small fan to her hand for a cute detail. Die cut the “hello” sentiment from the
Kokeshi Dolls BetterPress Plate & Die Set out of
Raven and
Mirror Gold Cardstock and layer together with liquid glue.

Apply
Gold Hot Foil to
Poppy Cardstock using the
Parasols BetterPress Plate and the
Glimmer Hot Foil System. Trim the panel down to 4” x 5.25”, mat it with
Raven Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. Add the doll to the card front with foam adhesive and the layered sentiment with liquid glue.
JAPANESE FAN FOR YOU CARD
The gorgeous layered fan from the
Fan & Bow Die Set is such a fun element to add to a simple card for big impact. Here I used shades of aqua and black to create an easy spring card to let a friend know I’m thinking of her.

Die cut
Teal Topaz,
Raven, and white cardstock using the
Fan & Bow Die Set and assemble with liquid glue. Be sure to overlap the fan sections carefully to get that fun dimensional look! Press the sentiment from the
Blossoms & Sentiments BetterPress Plate & Die Set onto white cardstock using black ink and cut it out with the coordinating die.

Emboss
Seaside Cardstock using the
Floral Fans 3D Embossing Folder, mat the panel with
Raven Cardstock, and adhere it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base with tape runner. Pop the fan and sentiment up on top of the card front with foam adhesive. Embellish with
Opal Mix Gems.
CHERRY BLOSSOM BIRTHDAY CARD
Sometimes mistakes can be inspiring! While attempting to foil different colors of cardstock for my first card with the doll, I accidentally placed my foil in the wrong place in my sandwich with
Bellini Cardstock…resulting in a subtly-embossed panel instead of a foiled panel! I liked the look so much that I decided to use it for this pretty cherry blossom birthday card.

Apply
Gold Hot Foil to
Bellini Cardstock using the
Cherry Blossoms BetterPress Plate & Die Set. Add simple shadows to the image with coral-colored Copic markers and highlights with a white colored pencil for a soft, monochromatic look. Die cut the image out using the coordinating die. Die cut the “happy birthday” sentiment out of
Mirror Gold Cardstock using the
Kokeshi Dolls BetterPress Plate & Die Set.

“Emboss”
Bellini Cardstock using the
Parasols BetterPress Plate and the
Glimmer Hot Foil System (minus the hot foil!). Die cut a circular window out of the top of the panel and place
Coral Cardstock behind it before adhering it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. Adhere the image inside of the window with foam adhesive and the sentiment beneath it with liquid glue. Add
Gold Mix Gems to embellish.
