Slimline Gingerbread Trio

Slimline Gingerbread Trio

Hello there, Michelle Short here, and I am delighted to be back on the Spellbinders blog using the new Candy Christmas Collection by Stamperia. This yummy collection is good enough to eat! I am featuring the gingerbread dies today – a train, plane and house. All with the same colour combination. I thought it would be fun to create them all using mini slimline-sized cards. This size is particularly perfect for the train and plane!

GINGERBREAD HOUSE

SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S4-1492, S5-713, BP-199 My first card uses the fun Gingerbread House Etched Dies. I cut the base layer from Truffle ColorWheel Cardstock and then the main part of the house from Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock. The icing was all cut from Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock with the door and window, as well as the base layer of the icing on the roof, from Blush ColorWheel Cardstock. It was so much fun adhering the pieces together using Bearly Art Glue and seeing the house come to life! SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S4-1492, S5-713, BP-199 I wanted some extra candy on my house, so I die cut the candy canes from Gingerbread Delivery Etched Dies from Classic White and Pomegranate ColorWheel Cardstock and adhered them onto the house before popping the snow icing at the bottom. It was then adhered to a 3.5” x 6.5” white card base using foam squares. SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S4-1492, S5-713, BP-199 The sentiment is from the Mistletoe Greetings Press Plate & Die Set. I hot foiled the plate onto Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock with Champagne Foil and the Glimmer Hot Foil System before die cutting out. It was adhered to the card with more foam squares. To finish, I embellished with Gold and Pink Color Essentials Gems.
TIP: When hot foiling press plates (like the sentiment), I like to heat up the platform twice. I seem to get a better impression that way. I also hold my plates down with tape, like I would when die cutting, this prevents the plate moving when running through my machine. Find out what works best for you and your machine!

GINGERBREAD PLANE

SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S4-1489 My next card uses Gingerbread Plane & Banners Etched Dies. I cut the main body of the plane from Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock and the icing from Blush and Pomegranate ColorWheel Cardstock. The body of the plane has etched lines on it, so you know where to place the icing – so clever and easy to put together! SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S4-1489 I cut the piece to attach the banner from Raven ColorWheel Cardstock. I cut the banner from  Pomegranate ColorWheel Cardstock for the top layer and Blush ColorWheel Cardstock for the base layer. The clouds were cut from Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock. I cut two of each cloud and layered them up on the mini slimline card base. The plane and banner were adhered on top with foam squares. To finish, I embellished with Gold Mix Color Essentials Gems.
TIP: Die cutting dies multiple times and layering them up is a great way to create dimension without adding too much bulk to the card!

GINGERBREAD TRAIN

For my last project, I am using the Gingerbread Train Etched Dies. I think this might be my favourite as you can really customise it how you wish! SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S7-280, BP-199 I die cut the base of the train and back car/carriage from Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock. The bottom piece that the wheels attach to was cut from Truffle ColorWheel Cardstock. All the icing was cut from Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock, and the candy and pink icing were cut from Blush and Pomegranate ColorWheel Cardstock. SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S7-280, BP-199 I had a lot of fun mixing and matching the different pieces. I didn’t use them all, but you definitely can! All the layers were adhered using Bearly Art Glue. I created a Blush mini slimline card base and then adhered a layer of Classic White on top. This created a ground for the train to stand on, which was adhered on top using foam squares. SLIMLINE GINGERBREAD TRIO, S7-280, BP-199 The sentiment, from Mistletoe Greetings Press Plate & Die Set, was foiled at the same time as the sentiment for the first card. It was adhered above the train and the card embellished with Gold and Pink Color Essentials Gems to finish.
TIP: If you like a colour scheme, stick to it! I sometimes find that finding a colour combination the hardest part of card making, so if you find one that works, the rest of the cards will probably come together pretty easily!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing my projects today. This is such a fun collection, so I hope you will check it out! Thank you so much for visiting today and I hope you have a wonderful day!
