Step-by-Step Graduation Card Tutorial with Classic Mouse Dies

Step-by-Step Graduation Card Tutorial with Classic Mouse Dies

Hello cardmaking friends! It’s Lisa Tilson here with you today to share a card featuring the Classic Mouse Graduation Etched Dies from the Classic Mouse Graduation Collection. I am going to be taking you through making this card with a step-by-step photo tutorial. Although the design is simple, I’ve included plenty of steps to guide you through the process. With this die set, I found that the order really matters. There are so many lovely little details that bring the mouse to life — a front and back for the gown, plus sleeves, trims, and other accents — and assembling them in the right sequence makes everything come together much more easily. There is also a guide on the website that you can refer to. So, let’s get started with the card.

Bravo!

For all of the die cutting, use the Platinum SIX Die Cutting Machine with the die cutting sandwich as follows (from bottom to top):
  • Plate A – Platform Base
  • Plate B – Platform Top
  • Plate C – Cutting Plate
  • Plate C – Cutting Plate
The cardstock/die will be inserted between the two cutting plates with the die sitting on top of the cardstock, cutting side down.

Summer Fishing Card Tutorial: Deer and Boat Die Cutting Project

Summer Fishing Card Tutorial: Deer and Boat Die Cutting Project

Hello crafty friends!  It’s Rachel here with a fun card featuring some adorable new products from the new Summer Camp Collection by Allison Frazier.  This card is geared toward beginners with some easy step-by-step instructions to follow. One of my favorite things to do as a family is to go fishing on the weekends. Because of this, I absolutely adore this entire collection and was thrilled to feature the Splash Days Etched Dies for my project today. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 1: Use the featured four dies from the Woodland Trio Etched Dies to die cut the main pieces of the deer’s body from some Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock.  Use the Woodland Trio Etched Dies for steps 1-9. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 2: Die-cut the deer’s face, tummy, and inner ears from some Alabaster ColorWheel Cardstock. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 3: Use a piece of Truffle ColorWheel Card Stock to die cut the deer’s antlers and hooves. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 4: Die cut a rounded rectangular piece from Classic White Cardstock to place behind the deer’s head to fill in the whites of the eyes. Then, die cut the dark part of the eyes and the nose from some Raven ColorWheel Cardstock. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 5: Combine the pieces from steps 1 and 2 with liquid adhesive for a firm hold. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 6: Once the body of the deer is assembled, adhere the white rounded rectangle to the back of the deer’s head so that it covers the holes of the eyes. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 7: Next, add the dark parts of the eyes from step 4 with liquid adhesive. Also, add the nose right above the deer’s mouth in the debossed area that shows an outline of where the nose is supposed to go. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 8: Attach the antlers and hooves with liquid adhesive. The antlers will adhere behind the deer at the top of its head. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 9: Once finished, this is what the completed deer should look like. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 10: Use the Splash Days Etched Dies to die cut the pieces of the fish from both Terra Cotta and Carrot ColorWheel Cardstock. Adhere the two pieces together with liquid adhesive. You will use the Splash Days Etched Dies for steps 10-13, and steps 16-17. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 11: Die cut the fishing pole and reel from Anchor and Raven ColorWheel Cardstock and glue the reel piece on top of the gray base fishing pole piece. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 12: Die cut pieces for the swimsuit from Tutu and Wild Berry ColorWheel Cardstock. Adhere the dark pink skirt on top of the light pink swimsuit. You can add the little bow to the swimsuit, but I decided to add it to the deer’s head instead. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 13: Use Waterfall, Beeswax, and Raven ColorWheel Cardstock pieces to die cut the lifejacket, straps, and buckles. Adhere together with more liquid adhesive. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 14: Dress up your deer by first adding the swimsuit and then the lifejacket. I used liquid adhesive, but you can use double-sided tape in this step if you prefer. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 15: Once assembled, this is what the deer should look like. This set also comes with a cute pair of swim trunks if you want to change things up a bit. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 16: Use the Splash Days Etched Dies to die cut the pieces from the boat. I used a blend of Acorn, Truffle, and Fawn ColorWheel Cardstock pieces. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 17: Assemble the boat. You can use 3D foam adhesive tape for added dimension on the darkest piece to give the boat some more depth, or just double-sided tape or liquid adhesive to keep it flat. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 18: Trim a 4” x 2.75” piece of Teal Topaz and a 4” x 2” piece of Waterfall ColorWheel Cardstock. Use the wavy die from the Landscape Edges Etched Dies to trim a wavy border at the top of each cardstock piece to resemble moving water. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 19: Once the pieces are die cut, adhere them together with the smaller/lighter-colored piece on top. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 20: Trim a piece of white card stock to 4.25” x 5.5” and die cut a window from the center of it using the fourth largest die from the Arch Labels and Tag Die Set.  Next, trim a 4.25” x 5.5” piece of Seaside ColorWheel Cardstock to use as the background sky. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 21:  Here is what the card base pieces should look like prior to assembly. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 22:  Layer the waves behind the arched window and attach with adhesive (I used liquid adhesive).  Next, attach this entire piece onto the 4.25” x 5.5” piece of Seaside Cardstock.  Add the boat to the lower right side of the card front.  I used foam adhesive tape on the back of the boat for some extra dimension. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 Step 23:  Next, attach the deer holding the fishing pole inside the boat.  Trim a piece of Raven cardstock to heat emboss your sentiment from the Summertime Sentiments Clear Stamp Set with Fine Detail White Embossing Powder.  If you don’t want to heat emboss your sentiment, you can stamp a smaller sentiment prior to adding the deer.  Another option is to stamp the sentiment onto a strip of light-colored cardstock so you don’t have to heat emboss it.  Finish the card by adding the entire card piece to a top-folding vertical A2-sized card base.  To do this, trim a piece of cardstock to 4.25” x 11” and score it at 5.5” along the 11” side. You’re a Reel Catch – Summer Camp Collection, S5-738, S4-1504, S4-1408, S5-624, STP-269 How cute is this sweet little deer??  I love how the sentiment coordinates perfectly with this set to make it a fun card to give to someone you love. Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by!  I had so much fun making this project today, and I hope you give this entire collection a closer look! Lakeside Memories Card Tutorial: Ink Blended Scene with Layering Stencils

Lakeside Memories Card Tutorial: Ink Blended Scene with Layering Stencils

Hello, crafty friends! It’s Marie again from Marie Nicole Designs. I absolutely LOVE the Lakeside Memories Collection that I am sharing on the blog today. I have a few cute critters to feature, but please make sure to look at the WHOLE collection. There are just too many cute things! Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 In this post, I’ll be walking through a simple step-by-step on how to create an ink-blended scene with the layering stencils, and then how to assemble a few of the die-cut images and put it all together in a fun, scenic card. Let’s get started!

Step 1

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Take your set of Lakeside Memories layering stencils and notice the bottom left-hand corner. You will see that each stencil is numbered, and there are corner guides that line up perfectly with an A2-sized card front (4.25x5.5).

Step 2

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 The first two stencils in the set created the green hillsides for the scene. For the first stencil, I used a lighter green, Mowed Lawn. Then, I switched to the second stencil and used a darker green - Rustic Wilderness. When creating a layered scene, it's easiest to use the lightest color in the back and layer a darker color on top.

Step 3

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 For the next step, we are using the stencils to add the sky and water. These two areas of the background are included on the same stencil, as I’m sure you can see why. They can use the same colors! I added Tumbled Glass first, and then just a bit of shading on the edges with Faded Jeans. I also added just a touch of sparkle to the lake by splattering on some Sparkle Splatter Effects.

Step 4

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 The next two stencils add the sun and the sand. For the sun, I used Scattered Straw and Mustard Seed. For the sand, I used Scattered Straw and Tea Dye. I also did a few splatters on the sand for a little texture. I just used the Tea Dye color mixed with a little water and then splattered it on with a paintbrush.

Step 5

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 To cut and assemble the canoe, I used some kraft colored paper for the piece that layers the inside of the canoe. Then, I cut the outside layer from red. There are also little pieces to cut out for the tips of the canoe, and I cut those from a darker brown. The oar is also cut from the same two shades of brown that I used for the canoe. Once the canoe and oar are assembled, set them aside to dry.

Step 6

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Cut out the pieces for the fox. I used orange for the main body pieces and white for the accent pieces. I also used a little black to layer behind the head for the eyes. PS. There is a white oval shape shown in the above picture that is a belly piece, but it does not match the fox image. I used the fluffy white piece for the fox’s belly instead of the oval, which coordinates with the raccoon and the skunk in this die set.

Step 7

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Layer the black rectangle behind the fox’s face with some glue. This will be the eyes.

Step 8

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Assemble the fox! In the photo above, I have all the pieces laid out where they go. Just add a dab of liquid glue to each place and adhere them together. Don’t forget the little nose piece! There are also eye pieces you can cut out and add inside the eye spots. I opted to skip this part and just draw in a little white circle on each eye with a white pen. Either way works! I used black ink in my stamping tool for a crisp, stamped sentiment. There are so many sentiments to choose from! My daughter and I chose the sentiment she wanted so that she could give this to her natural science teacher at the end of the school year!

Step 10

Creating a Scene with Lakeside Memories, STN-121, STP-269, S4-1503, S4-1504, S5-740, S5-739, S5-738 Finish the card by adding the background to a card base with foam adhesive. I trimmed an ⅛ inch off of each side of the background so I could adhere to a kraft cardstock base and leave a little matting around the scene. Then, I added the canoe and the fox with foam adhesive, as well, for some dimension. And that finishes the card!
