Step-by-Step Summer Lemonade Stand Card with Simple Stories Pink Lemonade Stand Dies

Step-by-Step Summer Lemonade Stand Card with Simple Stories Pink Lemonade Stand Dies

Hello Crafters! Nancy Leppek here from Scrapper at Heart.com. I am delighted to be back as a guest on the Spellbinder’s Blog. Today, I am sharing a step-by-step tutorial using the new Simple Stories Pink Lemonade Stand Dies. Let’s get to it, shall we! Here is the card we will be making. It sure has me itching for Summer, how about you? Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635

Die cutting

Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635 The first thing you want to do is get all your dies and color cardstock ready to go. Set up your die-cutting sandwich using the Platinum 6 and this die-cutting sandwich: Platform Base, Platform Top, C plate, and then your cardstock and dies facing down, and then your final C plate on top. Run this through your machine. I recommend you use the Best Ever Craft Tape to hold your paper and dies in place, especially if you are cutting many dies at one time. Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635 I keep my cut-out dies together in a Craft Stax Tray while I work, so I don’t lose any.

Ink Blending

Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635 This is an optional step depending on your preference. Take the dies that you wish to add some shading to and ink blend them with your favorite inks and a blending brush. Add color to your small strawberries, the orange slice, and the lemonade inside the glass and inside the pitcher. When ink blending, you want to make sure you work your way from the corner towards the middle. Plus, you will want to take your brush and remove some of the ink onto a paper or surface before you begin, so you don’t get a heavy ink spot. I find using a smaller brush gives me more control. I am using Mini Blending Brushes and Hero Arts Inks.

Prepare Card Base

Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635 Take a piece of 4 ¼ X 5 ½ Classic White Cardstock and a 1 ½ x 4 ¼ piece of Cascade Cardstock and glue the blue piece on the bottom of the white piece.  Run it through the Platinum 6 using a stitched rectangle from the Nested Postage Label and Tags die set to make a nice edge all the way around. I sometimes do two of these rectangle bases because I like my cards to be a bit sturdier. Now you have all your pieces inked, cut, and ready to go. Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635

Assemble Die cuts

Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635 Using Bearly Art Glue, adhere the pieces together and then also onto the stitched base, building your scene one item at a time. You do not need as much glue as you think. A little dab will do you! Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635

Foam Squares

Put 2 Foam Squares on the glass and pitcher and put them in place. Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635

Glue Down Both Sentiments

Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635

Final Step

Simple Stories-Hello Sunshine!, S6-269, S5-635 Glue the Stitched Panel to an A2 card base that I created from a full piece of Classic White Cardstock. I prefer top folding, but that is a personal preference. The cardbase dimensions are (11” x 4.25”, scored at 5.5”). I want to thank Spellbinders for the opportunity to guest here today, and a big thanks to you for sticking with me.  Feel free to reach out to me on my blog Scrapper at Heart, my IG Page, and or my Facebook page and say hello. How to Make a Striped Birthday Card with the Stripe Right Etched Dies

How to Make a Striped Birthday Card with the Stripe Right Etched Dies

Hello there, Michelle Short here to share a step-by-step tutorial with you using the new Stripe Right Etched Dies from the Just Eat Cake Add-Ons Collection. This fabulous die cuts four stripes of various widths. The stripes are 6” tall, so they can be used horizontally or vertically on an A2-sized card. The dies work perfectly with the contents of the Just Eat Cake Birthday Cardmaking Kit, but as you can see, they can be combined with any other supplies you have in your stash, too! DIE-CUTTING THE STRIPES + CREATING THE CARD BASE

HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Pick five colours of ColorWheel Cardstock to use – this card uses (left-right) Seaside, Waterfall, Fairy Tale, Lavender, and Lilac. Cut cardstock into smaller pieces so that they are easier to run through die cutting machine.
  2. Place Stripe Right Etched Dies face down onto the cardstock and hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Run through Platinum Six Die Cutting Machine using the following sandwich (bottom to top):
  • A Platform Base
  • B Platform Top
  • C Cutting Plate
  • Cardstock with die on top
  • C Cutting Plate
  1. Remove cardstock from die and repeat to cut all the cardstock colours twice.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Place cardstock stripes on top of an A2 (4.25” x 5.5”) sized white card base to give you a guide of where to adhere them.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Take the first stripe (cut from Waterfall ColorWheel Cardstock) and add Bearly Art Glue on the back.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Adhere to card.
  2. Repeat the process with all the stripes, leaving a small gap in between them.
TIP: I often prefer to add stripes at a diagonal. This means that I do not have to worry about adhering them down straight! Once you get one in place, you can simply follow the line with the next one.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Open card and flip over.
  2. Using Shears, cut the excess stripes off the edge of the card.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Die cut the largest of the rectangle dies from Bow & Bell Scallop Frame Etched Dies from Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock.
  2. Add removable adhesive to the back of the panel.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Adhere to middle of striped card base.
TIP: Don’t have removable adhesive? Simply hold the panel in place with Best Ever Craft Tape.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Take the matching stripe (the same size and colour that you used on the card base) and add Bearly Art Glue to the back, but just in the middle.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Adhere to the rectangle panel, lining it up with the stripe on the card base.
  2. Repeat the process to adhere the rest of the stripes, using the ones on the card base as a guide for placement.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Carefully remove panel from card base and flip over so that back is facing upwards.
  2. Using Shears, cut the excess stripes off the edge.
TIP: Doing this from the back of the panel means that you can see the sides of the panel (white cardstock) and can cut along the edge easily.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Add thin foam tape on the back of the panel.
  2. Remove backings off foam tape.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Adhere panel to card base, lining up stripes on panel with the stripes on the card base.

DIE-CUTTING THE DRAGONFLY + ASSEMBLY

HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025 Die cut Soaring Dragonfly using the same process as you did for the Stripe Right Etched Dies.
  1. Die cut body of dragonfly, head, and outline of wings from Classic White ColorWheel Cardstock.
  2. Die cut base of wings from Vellum.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
TIP: When die-cutting vellum, add a piece of scrap paper underneath the vellum. This prevents getting marks on the vellum from the cutting plates but also helps to get a cleaner cut.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Add small dabs of glue on the back of the top body layer.
  2. Adhere to bottom of body layer.
  3. Adhere top layer of head above base layer of body.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Using pokey end of Tool ‘n One, pop out inside pieces of the dragonfly’s wings.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Add small dabs of glue on the back of the outline layer of wings.
  2. Adhere to vellum base layer of wings.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Add glue to the end of the wings and adhere body on top, to adhere wings.
  2. Repeat process for all four wings.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Add foam squares to the back of the dragonfly’s body. You may need to cut some smaller with scissors to fit.
  2. Remove backings off foam squares.
TIP: Tweezers are really useful when removing the backings off foam squares.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Adhere dragonfly to card.

STAMP + HEAT EMBOSS SENTIMENT

HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Place piece of Raven ColorWheel Cardstock into Mini MISTI and hold in place with magnet.
  2. Place ‘happy birthday’ stamp from Lasting Impressions Sentiments Clear Stamp Set onto cardstock, impression side down.
  3. Close door of Mini MISTI to pick up stamp.
  4. Ink up stamp using Versamark Ink.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Close door of Mini MISTI to transfer ink from stamp onto cardstock.
  2. Remove cardstock from Mini MISTI.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Apply White Detail Embossing Powder.
TIP: I like to apply the powder a few times, tapping off the excess in between. This ensures good coverage of the powder.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Heat set the powder using heat tool. You will know when it is heated enough, as it will melt and go shiny. Make sure not to overheat the powder as it can turn grainy.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Cut sentiment into a strip using the die from Always and Forever Sentiment Strips Press Plate & Die Set (or other suitable die) - place die on top of sentiment, hold in place with Best Ever Craft Tape, and run through Platinum Six.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Pop sentiment out of die and cut the two edges using Guillotine Paper Trimmer.
HOW TO CREATE A STRIPED BACKGROUND, S4-1450, S4-1448, DOM-JAN25, STP-274, BP-025
  1. Add a black foam square on either end of the back of the sentiment strip.
  2. Remove backings off foam squares.
  3. Adhere to card.

  1. To finish, adhere Prism AB Color Essentials Gems to the dragonfly’s eyes.
There are lots of ways to add stripes to cards. I hope I have given you some inspiration on one way you can add them to use as a background. Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today. I hope you have a wonderful day!
