No Adventure Is Complete Without You

No Adventure Is Complete Without You

Hi everyone! Ilina Crouse here, and I am happy to be back on the Spellbinders blog, this time sharing a few cards using the Wonder of Oz collection. I loved watching the Wizard of Oz animated series when I was growing up, and this collection made me travel back in time to my childhood. There are several products in this collection, and they work so well together. No Adventure is complete without you , BP-334, BP-333, S4-1499, BP-332, BP-331, E3D-161

No Adventure Is Complete Without You Card

I love the Wonder of Oz Silhouette die from the collection, so I had to use it right away. No Adventure is complete without you , BP-334, BP-333, S4-1499, BP-332, BP-331, E3D-161 To make a card:
  • Step 1: Cut a piece of white cardstock measuring 5 ¾” x4 ½”. Ink blend the background using purples, pinks, and orange ink pads of your choice.
  • Step 2: To make the stars, use Splatter Opaque White watercolor. Set aside to dry.
  • Step 3: Die-cut the silhouette from Raven cardstock and trim the bottom. The silhouette is a little wider than 5 ½” and I found it best works with a 5 ¾” wide piece of cardstock.
No Adventure is complete without you , BP-334, BP-333, S4-1499, BP-332, BP-331, E3D-161
  • Step 4: Use the Wonder of Oz Sentiments and white foil to foil the sentiments. Die cut the sentiments using the coordinating die. You will use the one that says No Adventure is complete without you, and save the rest for other projects.
  • Step 5: Adhere the silhouette die cut onto the ink-blended background, using foam tape, and add the sentiment.
  • Step 6: Create a note card that is 5 ¾” x 4 ½” (9” x 5 ¾” piece of white cardstock folded in half) and adhere the ink-blended panel to it.

Never Doubt Your Magic Card

For this card, I combined several of the products from this collection. No Adventure is complete without you , BP-334, BP-333, S4-1499, BP-332, BP-331, E3D-161 To make the card:
  • Step 1: Cut a piece of Seaside cardstock to 4 ¼” x 5 ½”. Using the Wonder of Oz Frame & Tag Betterpress Plate and pool colored ink pad, run it through your die-cutting machine using the Betterpress system.
  • Step 2: Die-cut the tag from the middle and set it aside for another project.
  • Step 3: Using the dies from the Field of Poppies 3D embossing folder, die cut several from Poppy cardstock.
  • Step 4: Position the die cuts in the embossing folder and run through your die cutting machine using the sandwich for 3D embossing folders. Add dark gray ink in the center of each poppy and add dots with a white gel pen. Set aside.
  • Step 5: Cut a piece of Beeswax cardstock to 2 x 4 ¼” and emboss it using the Field of Poppies embossing folder. On the back side, run white pigment ink (I used Unicorn ink from Hero Arts) to add some contrast. Set aside to dry.
No Adventure is complete without you , BP-334, BP-333, S4-1499, BP-332, BP-331, E3D-161
  • Step 6: Using the Dorothy & the Witches Betterpress plate and black foil, foil Dorothy on watercolor paper. Watercolor it and die cut using the coordinating die.
  • Step 7: Die cut the greenery from the Wonder of Oz Frame and Tag Betterpress set from Rainforest and Fern cardstocks.
  • Step 8: Now we can assemble the card. Create a top-folding A2 white card (11” x 4 ¼” scored in half) and adhere the yellow poppies piece on the bottom.
  • Step 9: Using thin foam tape, adhere the Seaside frame. Next, using foam tape, adhere Dorothy.
  • Step 10: Arrange and adhere the poppies and the greenery around the frame (bottom half), then adhere the sentiment (you should have this one left over from the first card). You are done!

Experience is the Only Thing Card

For this card, I am also using a few items from this collection. No Adventure is complete without you , BP-334, BP-333, S4-1499, BP-332, BP-331, E3D-161 To make the card:
  • Step 1: Cut a piece of Blush cardstock measuring 4 ¼” x 5 ½”. Emboss it using the Field of Poppies Embossing folder. Set aside.
  • Step 2: Using black foil and the Dorothy and the Witches Bettepress plate, foil the Dorothy and the good witch on watercolor paper. Watercolor, or use any other medium of your choice, and die then using the coordinating dies. Set aside.
  • Step 3: Cut a piece of Seaside cardstock to 4 ¼” x 5 ½” and foil the images from the Tin Man, Scarecrow & Lion Betterpress plates on the background. Use the blue foil from the Satin Pastels Hot foil pack. They would all fit together on an A2-sized panel.
No Adventure is complete without you , BP-334, BP-333, S4-1499, BP-332, BP-331, E3D-161
  • Step 4: Die-cut the foiled background using the Linear Touch rectangles and tag dies (I used the 3rd from the largest die).
  • Step 5: Now, it’s time to assemble the card. Create a top-folding note card from white cardstock, same as for the second card. Adhere the embossed background to the card base using liquid adhesive. Next, add the foiled panel using foam tape. Using more foam tape, adhere Dorothy and the good witch, then use one of the sentiments from the card one and adhere with foam tape, too.
You are done! [spellbinders-supplies]BP-334,BP-333,S4-1499,BP-332,BP-331,E3D-161,S5-721,GLF-050,GLF-010,CS-8-123,GLF-049,CS-8-115,CS-8-103,CS-8-147,SCS-328,CS-8-148[/spellbinders-supplies] Thank you so much for stopping by. Hope you have an amazing day!

Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection

Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection

Hi friends! Emily Midgett from emilymidgett.com here with you today on the Spellbinders blog, and I am thrilled to be working with the fabulous new The Wonder of Oz Collection from Graphic 45! Watching Judy Garland sing her heart out as a child was one of the many musicals that piqued my musical interest as a young child, and so the Wizard of Oz has always been dear to my heart. My twins were even dressed as Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion for their first Halloween! The images in the Wonder of Oz collection are in the classic and intricate illustration style from the original book by Frank L. Baum, and I think they are just perfect for anybody who loves that ornate vintage aesthetic. I created three projects using these new products, so let’s get started on the details for my cards! Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection , BP-331, BP-333, BP-334, S4-1499, E3D-161 All of my projects kept true to an interesting emerald and aqua color palette, paying homage to the vibrant greens and blues with a touch of ruby red in the Judy Garland Wizard of Oz movie! I used Spellbinders’ Seaside cardstock as the main color for each, connecting all three projects and creating a cohesive set. Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection , BP-331, BP-333, BP-334, S4-1499, E3D-161 Begin by hot foiling the large frame plate from Wonder of Oz Frame & Tag Press Plate set using your Glimmer machine onto an A2 panel of Seaside cardstock using Green foil, as well as the Wonder of Oz Sentiments Press Plate and the Glinda image from Dorothy & the Witches. Die cut all of the images with their coordinating dies or use scissors to fussy cut. To create the card base, die-cut the center of the frame with the sentiment, and set aside the tag die-cut. Back the foiled window with acetate, and add a seamless line of foam adhesive around the opening on the back. Sprinkle some coordinating green sequins on the center of an A2 Seaside card front, then remove the release paper from the foam strips on the frame and place the window and frame over the sequins, sealing the sparkling sequins inside. Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection , BP-331, BP-333, BP-334, S4-1499, E3D-161 To add some extra interest to Glinda’s dress, use a blending brush to blend aqua ink on the bottom of her gown, then add some extra shimmer along the folds with a sparkle pen. Adhere the blended die cut to the bottom right corner of the shaker frame using thin foam adhesive, then tuck a few bits of foliage die cuts from the Wonder of Oz Frame & Tag set, helping to draw the eye to Glinda with the darker shade of green cardstock. Add the sentiment from the Wonder of Oz Sentiments Press Plate and Die set with foam adhesive and tuck an aqua twine bow beneath it for added texture amongst all of the shiny embellishments. Finally, add a few Aquamarine AB gems for one final touch of aqua and texture! Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection , BP-331, BP-333, BP-334, S4-1499, E3D-161 To create this large A7 card, die-cut the Wonder of Oz Silhouette from emerald green glitter cardstock. Mask off the bottom section of a horizontal A7 Seaside cardstock, then use a blending brush to blend aqua ink, starting in the center of the card front, maintaining more pressure towards the center, then relaxing towards the edge of the card front to create a smooth fadeout. Remove the mask, leaving the bottom ⅓ of the card front clean. Run a 1 ½  x 7” strip of Seaside cardstock through your Spellbinders Platinum 6 using the Field of Poppies Emboss & Cut embossing folder set, then lightly swipe the aqua ink pad directly over the raised areas on the embossed strip, enhancing the pattern. Pop this strip up on the blended card front with thick foam adhesive squares and add a ½” strip of emerald green cardstock in the center of the embossed strip. Tuck the glittery Wonder of Oz Silhouette die cut behind the embossed strip and adhere with foam adhesive. Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection , BP-331, BP-333, BP-334, S4-1499, E3D-161 For the greeting, hot foil the Wonder of Oz Sentiments Press Plate and Die onto more Seaside cardstock using Green Hot Foil from Spellbinders, then die-cut with the coordinating die. Die cut and emboss the individual poppy images from the Field of Poppies Emboss & Cut set using Seaside cardstock. Adhere the foiled sentiment die cut in the center of the embossed strip on the card front using foam adhesive, then tuck the embossed poppy die cuts behind the foiled sentiment, along with some foliage from the Wonder of Oz Frame & Tag set. Finally, add a few Aquamarine AB gems for additional sparkle! Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection , BP-331, BP-333, BP-334, S4-1499, E3D-161 For the final card, create a dry-embossed image with the Wonder of Oz Frame & Tag without any ink.  Layer an A2 panel of Seaside cardstock with letterpress paper or other thick cardstock, then run that sandwich through your Platinum machine using the normal Better Press sandwich without any ink. This impresses a beautiful texture onto the colored cardstock without adding any additional color to the card front. Trim the textured panel down slightly by ⅛” on each side, then mount the textured panel in the corner of an A2 panel of emerald green cardstock. Never Doubt Your Magic with New The Wonder of Oz Collection , BP-331, BP-333, BP-334, S4-1499, E3D-161 For the focal point, use Better Press Black Ink to impress Dorothy’s image from the  Dorothy & the Witches Better Press Set onto Porcelain Better Press cardstock. Use alcohol markers to very lightly add color to the image, adding blue to her pinafore, red to the ruby slippers, and peach to her skin. Die cut the finished image with its coordinating die. Use the Field of Poppies Emboss & Cut set to die cut and emboss red poppies using Spellbinders’ Poppy cardstock, adding black pen to the centers of each flower. Place the foiled “there is no place like home” tag, leftover from the first project, slightly off-center in the textured panel, adhering it with thin foam tape. Arrange Dorothy, the poppies, and emerald green foliage around the foiled tag image, adhering them with single and double layers of foam adhesive squares. Finally, add some shimmer to the ruby slippers with a sparkle pen and a few Red Gems for a touch of added sparkle! Well, that’s all for my projects today! This new collection is so much fun and can be used in so many different styles; it would also lend itself beautifully to a vintage, distressed, mixed-media aesthetic, depending on your color and paper choices! So many directions to go with these fabulous products. If you’d like to see more of my work, you can check out my blog over at emilymidgett.com. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and thank you to Spellbinders for having me as their guest! Frohe Weihnachten Made Easy! International Holiday Sentiments Card Tutorial

Frohe Weihnachten Made Easy! International Holiday Sentiments Card Tutorial

Hello, crafty friends! Isha Gupta here, and I am so happy to be on the Spellbinders blog featuring the German Holiday Sentiments. I am glad that Spellbinders came up with the international sentiments, it would be perfect for my this year’s Christmas cards. I decided to go with a Clean and Simple card design as it’s easy to mass produce, while having to prepare so much around the holiday season. I feel it’s never too soon to start on the Holiday cards, though. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635 Even if the card is clean and simple, I will be sharing how to add dimension to it, without adding any bulk (3d foam/ layers). This makes the project mail-friendly, too. So let’s start. I used the  Spellbinders Platinum 6 Die Cutting & Embossing Machine. I am using the following sandwich for all my die-cutting using the Spellbinders Universal Plates. The basic die-cutting sandwich starts with the Base Platform A, then the top platform B. Next is a Clear Plate C. Then your cardstock with die on top of that, placing the cut edges of the die facing down towards the cardstock. Then another top Clear Plate C

Step 1

Start by die-cutting the sentiments (Frohe Weihnachten) using the Mirror Gold Cardstock. I also die-cut the shadow layer using the Spellbinders Vellum. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635

Step 2

Die-cut three pine trees from the Ski Lodge Etched Dies. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635

Step 3

Add color to the trees in an ombré to add interest. I chose to add the shades of coral, bright green, and sage green. Change the colors as per your liking. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635

Step 4

Take an A2 (4.25×5.5”)  size white panel and sponge some turquoise ink, keeping it a bit lower from the center. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635

Step 5

Die-cut a frame from the Mirror Gold Cardstock. Take the Nested Postage Edge dies. Tape two of the outermost dies together using the yellow tape, and this will give us a frame. Adhere this frame to the A2 sponged panel. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635

Step 6

Flick gold watercolor to the panel and the trees using a brush. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635

Step 7

Now, to add dimension, take an embossing tool and curl the edges. This will give us instant dimension. Remember, we are not using any 3d foam on the card. STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL FOR CLEAN AND SIMPLE CHRISTMAS USING THE INTERNATIONAL HOLIDAY SENTIMENTS WITH ISHA GUPTA, S3-567, S5-717, S5-635

Step 8

Adhere this panel to a white card base, and the card is ready. To finish, I adhered some gems to the trees. Here are two more photos to see how they look.
