Hey Crafty Friends, it’s
Amy Tsuruta, and I’m thrilled to be back on the Spellbinders blog featuring the fabulous
Holiday DIY Color Deck Expansion Pack. If you love the original
DIY Color Deck System, you're going to be smitten with the Holiday version. It contains 12 cards with holiday-inspired artwork, fun facts and information to help and spark your creativity.
My first project features the
Yuletide Ride Etched Dies from the Wonderland Collection and
Petite Criss Cross Press Plate from the Merry Moments Collection.

I challenged myself to put together the Holiday DIY Color Cards together first and then pick out my supplies.
This is the ColorWheel color palette for my first project:
I love working with nontraditional colors but this one was the toughest of the three. I was thinking of a flocked Christmas tree. I actually grew up with a white tinsel tree.
The
Petite Criss Cross Press Plate from the Merry Moments Collection was inked up with
Tiger - BetterPress Ink and teamed it up with
A2 Porcelain BetterPress Cotton panel. It was trimmed down by .25 inch and adhered to an
Anchor A2 panel. The sentiment from
Deluxe Caboodle Bonus - Fuzzy Feelings - Coordinating October 2024 Large Die of the Month Club was also inked up in Tiger with Porcelain BetterPress Cotton paper.
I mixed up the color elements for the
Yuletide Ride Etched Dies from the Wonderland Collection. Originally, I was going to have the car cut in
Carrot. Then I decided to go the neutral route with
Anchor with fun accent colors.
Next up is another card that features the
Classic Christmas Tree Etched Dies from the Timeless Trees Collection by Simon Hurley and
Christmas Cameos 3D Embossing Folder from the Merry Moments Collection.

This is the ColorWheel color palette for this project:
Watercolor Cardstock was used for the background panel and snowbank behind the tree. Aren’t the Christmas Cameos gorgeous? It gives the card an old-fashioned Christmas feel.
The Classic Christmas Tree Etched Dies make for an amazing layered tree. I cut the tree ornaments in the first three color palette colors. I used
gold glitter throughout the card too.
The sentiment is from the
Christmas Icons Press Plate from the BetterPress Christmas Collection, in Black BetterPress ink on Porcelain BetterPress Cotton paper.
My final project features the
Cocoa Wonderland Etched Dies from the Wonderland Collection.

The ColorWheel color palette for my final project:
The sentiment has been heat embossed in gold and is from the
Santa’s Sippin’ Sayings Clear Stamp Set from the Merry Mug & Circle Delights Collection by Nichol Spohr.
The
Raven panel has been die cut with the
Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag Etched Dies from the Happy Hour Collection. I used a panel of the Glitter Metallic paper from the
Gold Assortment Treasured Cardstock Pack as the A2 base.
I built the
Cocoa Wonderland mug using white cardstock. The face is
Alabaster ColorWheel cardstock with
a bit of shading with
Hero Arts - Sand ink. The moustache has been cut 3 times and glued together. The nose and cheeks have been colored with Copic RV52. All other elements for the mug have been cut with cardstock using the color palette.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I adore this beautiful collection, and I can’t wait to see how you’re inspired. You can find me over on Instagram
