Hi there, this is
Annie Williams and I’m excited to be back on the blog today to share a couple of fun holiday cards made with non-traditional color schemes using the new
Holiday DIY Color Deck Expansion Pack. Sometimes I get stuck in a rut with the handful of colors I use on my holiday cards and the latest Color Deck cards gave me some really fun new looks to try!
Floral Noel Card
The
Poinsettia Spray Die Set is one of my favorite holiday sets in my stash, but I have already pieced it together using a few color combinations and needed something new to try with it. Here I picked a fresh holiday scene from the
Color Deck that uses corals and greens and found a new way to love an older die set!

The colors of cardstock that I picked out to match this gorgeous
Color Deck Card were
Coral,
Saffron,
Fern,
Sicily, and
Windy, so I cut most of the elements out of these using the
Poinsettia Spray Die Set. I spied a touch of grey in the picture as well, so I used
Anchor Cardstock for the stem. Once assembled, I added it on top of a white panel that I had die cut using the
Emerald Cut Labels & Tag Die Set.

Next, I trimmed a piece of
Bellini Cardstock to 4” x 5.25”, embossed it using the
Branches 3D Embossing Folder, and added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. After popping the floral panel up on top with foam squares, I added a sentiment cut using the
Christmas Greetings Die Set and embellished with a few
Crystal Mix Gems.
Caroling Snowmen Card
Next, I thought it would be fun to try adding just a splash of color inspired by one of the
Holiday DIY Color Deck Cards. Here I used the
Snow Notes Die Set and a couple of bright colors for this cute holiday card for a friend.

I loved the bright colors in this snowy scene and picked
Carrot,
Fern,
Orchid, and
Violet Cardstocks to cut the book and scarves for my snowmen. The snowmen were cut from white cardstock, but I blended a bit of Milled Lavender Distress Ink up from the bottom of them to mimic the sky on the
Color Deck Card.

For the background, I chose to emboss
Malibu Cardstock using the
Sparkling Snow 3D Embossing Folder. Once the snowmen and sentiment were adhered with foam adhesive, I added some
Crystal Mix Gems for a little sparkle.
Christmas Rocking Chair Card
Lastly, I was inspired by one of the beautiful
Color Deck Cards to use both the color and content of the painting. The scene depicted reminded me very much of my new
Christmas Rocking Chair Die Set, so I created this fun holiday card in unique colors.

Based on the painting, I pulled
Truffle,
Fern,
Tutu,
Alabaster, and
Poppy Cardstocks out and began cutting all of the elements in my scene using the
Christmas Rocking Chair Die Set. Once assembled, I also added a cute wreath to the back of the chair from the
Country Christmas Barn Die Set to make things even more festive.

To create the background, I embossed a piece of
Fern Cardstock using the
Country Christmas 3D Embossing Folder to look like wallpaper and added it to a top-folding A2-sized white card base. A strip of
Tutu Cardstock gives the items a floor to sit on. To finish the card off, I foiled a sentiment using the
Country Christmas Banner & Sentiments Press Plate & Die Set and added it to the top corner of the card.
