FAQs

How many strands of floss for stitching?

Three strands works great with the Felt Stitch & Create dies.

What floss to use for felt stitching?

DMC embroidery floss comes in any color you could need and is readily available at Spellbinders and craft and hobby stores. Choose floss that closely matches the felt for a more subtle stitched effect or choose a contrast color to really "pop" and add to the stitched design.

What size needles for stitching?

The DMC 24 blunt tip needles will work for basic stitching through the stitching holes in the dies. For piercing through the felt, Nichol suggests size 5 sharp tip embroidery needles. Beading Needles can be used for adding sequins, seed beads, or small details.

What felt to use for die cutting?

100% Wool Felt or high quality felt blends are recommended. High wool content felt is essential for die cutting and stitching as the lower quality big box store felt tends to not hold up well.

How to attach non-stitching hole die cut pieces?

Fabric Glue, like Aleene's, or hot glue are great options. You can also stitch these pieces to your project.

What die cut machine do you use for felt stitching dies?

If your die cut machine cuts other Spellbinders dies, it should die cut felt. Nichol uses the Spellbinders Platinum and Spellbinders 6.
