Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!

Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Spellbinders Blog. I’m Pam Sparks, cardmaker, blogger, and all-around Winter lover from Iowa. You can find me on my blog ExpressionsWithHeart.com. Today’s cards celebrate a touch of Winter sporting and relaxing. Super cute characters, super cool embossing folder, love the BetterPress Plate sentiments, and the delightful Ski Lodge. I’m going to start by showing you how I was inspired to use the colors I did for two of the cards. Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!, CD-003, E3D-160, S3-563, S5-717, BP-335 The DIY Color Deck Holiday Expansion Pack is full of wonderful inspiration! I just fell in love with the houses, colors, and the black car! I pulled out some Distress Oxide inks and set to work. Weathered Wood, Fossilized Amber, Crushed Olive, Tattered Rose, and Hickory Smoke. Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!, CD-003, E3D-160, S3-563, S5-717, BP-335 Streamline 3D embossing folder creates a wonderful background for these Winter scenes. I embellished with some glitter here and there by painting on Glossy Accents and sprinkling clear glitter, then tapping off the excess. I had the thought to add the string of lights from the Ski Lodge die set. I don’t know if they have these kinds of lights at ski resorts, but I liked how they added a fun detail. Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!, CD-003, E3D-160, S3-563, S5-717, BP-335 Die-cut the characters from white cardstock and ink-blend them with the Distress Oxide inks. Die-cut the trees from green cardstock. Mat the embossed panel with black cardstock and glue it to an A7-sized cardbase. Remember to spatter with white ink for snowfall! Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!, CD-003, E3D-160, S3-563, S5-717, BP-335 An A2-sized card made pretty much the same way as the skier card. Ink the edges with Weathered Wood Distress ink, no glitter but lots of white ink spatters for snowfall! Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!, CD-003, E3D-160, S3-563, S5-717, BP-335 All three cards feature sentiments from the BetterPress Plate and Die set Ski-son’s Greetings. What an awesome set. I am loving the Better Press system! Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!, CD-003, E3D-160, S3-563, S5-717, BP-335 A warm and cozy ski lodge in a snowstorm. What fun! On a card, anyway. Haha Die cutting makes cardmaking fun and easy. Cut your pieces from colored cardstock and start gluing. Die-cut the light bulbs in white and color with markers. Ink your die cuts for a rustic feel. Glue everything together and spatter with white ink. Create Winter Wonderland Cards with Ski-son’s Greetings Collection!, CD-003, E3D-160, S3-563, S5-717, BP-335 A great masculine card that would work for any season. Just change up the lights! I just realized it’s missing some smoke coming out of the chimney! Haha, Next time! Thank you so much for stopping by the Spellbinders blog today. I hope you enjoyed these snowy cards! Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings

Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings

Hello Crafters! Nancy Leppek here from Scrapper at Heart.com. I am delighted to be back as a guest on the Spellbinder’s Blog. Today, I am sharing three different cards using the recently released Ski-Son’s Greetings Collection from Simon Hurley. Fun fact, I have never been on snow skis before, but that certainly didn’t stop me from having some fun with this collection. Let’s get to it, shall we!

Dashing Through the Snow

Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings, E3D-160, BP-335, S3-563, S5-717 For my first card, I am hitting the slopes and using all of the items in this collection. That is me, at the base of the card, more than likely, wiping out in the trees! LOL

There’s No Place Like Home…

Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings, E3D-160, BP-335, S3-563, S5-717 I know when someone thinks of a Ski Lodge in the woods, they think a rustic vibe, and perhaps a house to blend in. I decided to be bold and bright.  Why blend in when you can stand out…heck, it might even scare the bears away.

Sending Warm Hugs

Hitting the Slopes with Simon Hurley’s Ski-Son’s Greetings, E3D-160, BP-335, S3-563, S5-717 I decided that for my last card, I would show that this wonderful collection can be enjoyed even if you do not like the snow or skiing. I wanted this card to have a Fall vibe, and I hope I did just that.
  • I knew I wanted my background to portray a sunset with mountains, so I took some regular copy paper and made my own mountain stencils by ripping several times until I was happy with my landscape. I started with a piece of Beeswax Cardstock and worked from the base of the card up, blending with various tones of yellow, orange, and red Oxide Inks and Large Blending Brushes.
  • Next, I cut out all of the pieces I needed for my lodge and trees from the Ski Lodge Etched Dies. I used these colors of Colorwheel CS: Raven, Anchor, Fern, Carrot, and Beeswax.
  • I did ink up the edges of my trees and the lodge to give it some dimension, too.
  • The sentiment is pressed in BetterPress Black Ink and part of the Ski-Son’s Greetings Sentiments.
  • At the last minute before assembling, I decided to ground the house with a piece of Kraft CS across the bottom, and I am so glad I did.
I want to thank Spellbinders for the opportunity to guest here today.  Feel free to reach out to me on my blog Scrapper at Heart, my IG Page, and or my FB page-Scrapper@heart and say hello. Ski-son’s Greetings: Three Cards That Make Us Feel Ready To Hit the Slopes

Ski-son’s Greetings: Three Cards That Make Us Feel Ready To Hit the Slopes

Hello, friends! This is Jennifer Ingle here with you today, and I am so excited to be sharing three very fun card designs with you. I have a small confession: while I implied that these designs will get you ready to hit the slopes, the truth is, Simon Hurley’s latest collection, Ski-son’s Greetings, actually makes me ready to hit the LODGE. I do love a good cozy ski lodge and a warm cup of a little something on a snowy day. I am happy to leave the skiing to others. Ski-son’s Greetings: Three Cards That Make Us Feel Ready To Hit the Slopes, S3-563, E3D-160, BP-335, S5-717 I created all three cards using the fantastic Streamline 3-D Embossing Folder as the foundation for my design. I love how a single product can be used to create such different cards. These tiny skiers from the Hit the Slopes die set are so fun to put together and allow you to mix and match to create a unique look every time. Ski-son’s Greetings: Three Cards That Make Us Feel Ready To Hit the Slopes, S3-563, E3D-160, BP-335, S5-717 The Ski Lodge die set allows you to take your skiers straight from the slopes to the doorstep of their cozy landing spot for the evening. Can’t you just smell the warm fire crackling inside? Ski-son’s Greetings: Three Cards That Make Us Feel Ready To Hit the Slopes, S3-563, E3D-160, BP-335, S5-717 And the best part is, when you pull together the various elements of this collection, you can create something completely new and different without the ski theme if you’d like, as well! I was able to quickly put together a small forest scene between these two cozy cottages for a warm holiday greeting card that is sure to land on the mantel of the recipient! Ski-son’s Greetings: Three Cards That Make Us Feel Ready To Hit the Slopes, S3-563, E3D-160, BP-335, S5-717 Thank you so much for stopping by today!
